S2004/FSX Polikarpov I-153V2 Warbird bipe
The ultimate development of the Polikarpov fighter biplane was the powerful I-153 Chaika, with retractable landing gear, either wheels or skis folding to the rear. Coming on line in 1938 some thousands served in the Far East, Finland and on the Eastern Front.
The I-153 was an anachronism, entering service at the time when the biplane had long since been eclipsed by the monoplane fighter.
This is an updated model of the I-153 with more realistic cowling and working frontplate inlets. Finish, Russian and Spanish textures by Morton. GMAX model by A.F.Scrub.

IMHO this looks to the counter part to the Grumman F3F-2 "Barrel" - sort of.... :icon_lol:

You could use DXTBmp to change glass texture alpha. That usually works and is quite easy. Other way is to "borrow" glass texture from some other plane and replace original with it. Sometimes it gets difficult, though, if there is no separate glass texture file with the model and cockpit glass is with other hull stuff. I've seen that with couple of older Alphasim models.

There is a folder in the aircraft folder called acceleration.texture. It contains glass and prop blur for FSX.

I would simply rename the folder "texture"

Then in the other three folders texture.BAT, texture.LEL, and texture.N30 delete glass.bmp and prop.bmp.

Go to your C172 folder and copy one of the texture.cfg files and place it in each of the texture.xxx folders.

The glass should be clear at this point.

That did the trick! Thanks. Now I am looking for a more realistic sound. It's aliased to a DC3. Looks like this plane shared the same engine with the AN2.

The engine Shvetsov ASh-62 (M-62) is a development from the R-1820 Cyclone 9. I assume there are good sound sets available for the American original.

Had a good viewing of the type and display during the 1998 Warbirds over Wanaka - a Very unique sound to this aircraft , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi-VQM4jb3s , unfortunately the I-15 did not display on this day, on Friday training day for the weekend the aircraft was involved with a bird strike damaging the lower leading edge and ripping the fabric between three runners on the front spar, but to have the five display like this with that sound was impressive.

Is that the same sounds for the duck? Could use a better VC then what it has. Startup effects need a bit of polish as well.

About the sounds, these ASH-62 powered polikarpov fighters do sound quite similar to a Wildcat and/or T-28, which both run R-1820 engines, with that "chugga, chugga, chugga".

For a good soundset, first download and install t28snz.zip available at Flightsim.com

It was through the combined efforts of Sir Tim Wallis and his The Alpine Fighter Collection, and the restoration company at Novosibirsk in Russia, called Aviarestoration, which saw six I-16's and three I-153's be returned to the air in the 1990's. A few I-15's were also restored/built by Aviarestoration. (Aviarestoration is also the company that has restored the three airworthy Mig-3's, the Flying Heritage Collection's airworthy Il-2, etc.)

The Military Aviation Museum/Fighter Factory in Virginia Beach acquired one of each type (an airworthy I-15bis, I-16, and I-153). Sadly, they haven't been flown since being acquired by MAM, as none of the museum pilots have expressed any interest in flying them due to their flying characteristics. (They also have an original complete I-16 kept in storage, that is fitted with skis). The Commemorative Air Force also owns one of the I-16's, and it also hasn't been flown since being acquired. Fortunately the Flying Heritage Collection continues to fly the I-16 they acquired, which is the only Polikarpov fighter that is flown in North America, despite the others registered. There is an I-16 and an I-153 that are operated in Spain, an I-16 which is operated in Germany, and an I-15bis, a DIT (two-seat I-15bis), an I-16, and an I-153 which are operated in Russia.

Thanks for the tip. I was testing the AN2 sounds just for grins. When you CTRL + E with that sound set, it's like Russian roulette, (no pun intended).
i.e., it may or may not start. There is something built into the Sound.cfg that must communicate with the cockpit switches in the AN2.
About the 4th attempt is starts.
