.. Nope... no A-10's here...

"Wart Hog", the Tired Iron Racing Team Corsair. (1982,1984) FG-1D Bu 67089, N4716C, N4715C, N97GM, N83JC

Nothing fancy here. Mr. Mike Wright flew the aircraft at a couple of racing venues in the early 80's. Owned by a Mr. Davis, and Tired Iron Air racing. It was later sold to Gary Meermans in 1986. Registered as N97GM, ad given the name 'Sky Boss'. Did make an appearance at Reno with Gary at the controls in 1988. However, he qualified to slow to make the field. Was given race #111. Today, "Sky Boss" is based in New York State , and is actively flown. And yes, it's a darker, and perhaps more accurate shade of blue now!

Once again; this is a teaser for the upcoming expansion pack, for the Aircraft Factory Corsair.

Looks fabulous :applause:

By the way, can we expect something else with the expansion pack except these beautiful paints (new cockpits, FDE...)?

The flight model has been completely revised, and we've added systems modeling. Nothing too fancy, however the aircraft now has working cowl flaps, which effectively cool, and also create drag. The CHT must be strictly monitored to maintain proper performance and engine health. An automatic ADI system, with 10 galllon reservoir has been added, and now functions per the real-world aircraft. The materials of the visual model have been enhanced as best as possible. No source files were available for this aircraft, so there is not any new 3D goodies, unfortunately. However, the cockpit has been painted in a neutral grey color, for the sake of a happy medium with these resto/racing liveries. The complete package will require the original AF Corsair, however primarily functions on it's own, as nearly everything has been updated.

Sweet! I love the AF Corsair, but had hoped for it to get the Accusim treatment.

This isn't quite that, but it's definitely a step in the right direction! Looking forward to it.

Good news! The AF Corsair is a great model, IMHO. I assume the new functions are also working with the old warbird version?

Cheers,
Mark

I have elected to keep the upgrades separate from the original release. However, one could, on their own time, merge the default, or other published liveries to the new model.

Just a little edit, to an older photograph.

Sorry Joseph,

Am I understanding correctly that you need the original AF Corsair for this upgrade to work, but all the new features will only work when you load up one of the newer aircraft?

Then by your last statement, I'm guessing that the skins for the original Corsair could be transferred over to the updated model by just entering them in the CFG since the 3d model hasn't changed?

I'm not much of a racer so, if I didn't reap any benefits to the older active duty Corsairs, I'm not sure if this update would be quite for me.

Which would be disappointing since it sounds like you are doing some nice things with it.

Thanks!

I appreciate the comments. However, yes, you are correct. The Original package is required, but yet this package will not do anything do those aircraft in the original package. The changes are too many, and the enhanced materials mean more textures.

One could theoretically modify and adapt the old skins to suit his tastes.

And the expansion will be free, so I'm sure it will be worth the try! It will probably inspire some new military liveries, and I could only suspect that Mr. Jan Kees Blom would want to add his touch to the aircraft? I believe he's painted the AF Corsair more than anyone...

Best,
Joseph

Hehe...

Ah, I see. I thought it was a payware upgrade. Sorry, I misunderstood.

So, it sounds like converting the old skins will require someone with actual talent...well, that leaves me out! LOL!

You know, if an old, beat up Marine skin made it into the package, there might be some beer exchanged.

I'm just saying. ;)

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

Great news, Joseph! I hope Jan Kees is with us on that.

So, I did a little testing. And with minor .cfg entries, one of the very nice Jan Kees paints can be applied. It won't fully take advantage of the new materials, however, it won't look any worse.

Here's how #740 looked in the sim;

I could include a readme text describing how to add them?

That would be awesome! Thanks for that.

PM me your address and preference and you'll have a "package" (wink wink) on the way.
