Looks like a fire on a Dreamliner at Heathrow.

No persons hurt, it was an internal fire

When are they going to turn the Battery box into a in flight BBQ pit? If the darn aircraft is going to be in fire they better make use of it for somthing good!

It's unfortunate publicity for something as simple as just "teething pains".

New technology, hundreds of variables, trying to test every single anomaly... things are going to rear their ugly head from time to time. It happens on the Test Stand, and I bet it does on the Company Ramp, as well.

Personally, I think the folks in Seattle will figure this one out, too. Can't be perfect ALL the time, but you can't deny Boeing builds some damned good airplanes.

Wow,...and how long was the Dreamliner grounded before it was given a clean bill of health to take to the friendly skies again?

From this shot, the fire appears to be confined to the overhead crew berthing area. Overheated laptop? UA smoking?

This one gives a layout drawing of the 787

Whatever the cause, we'll know soon, I'd imagine...Don

I was fixing to say that the "fire" occurred nowhere near the battery boxes! The cause of this particular fire is almost certainly something other than the Lith-Ion batteries... :isadizzy:

Unless it was the Lith-Ion batteries in a phone or laptop in the berthing area...:isadizzy:

I read a preliminary report that it was a galley problem, possibly in a coffee pot.
