Something happened to my motherboard yesterday evening (as in arcs, sparks and a burning smell). Looking for recommendations for a replacement. Must be "Socket T" LGA 775 and have a PCI-E slot. I have a P4 670 series CPU and a 7800 GTX video card. That mobo had a 925 chipset. 955 would probably be the way to go now though, wouldn't it?

For just a motherboard that is compatible with the other parts I already have? I'd think that a couple of hundred $$ or a bit more would take of it. I'm not looking for the cheapest thing available. I'm also not looking to buy the most expensive mobo ever created just to say that I have one. I guess I really don't have a budget. I'll spend what I have to....

I like the Abit boards. You can go here: http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=278 and read about them and view there specs. Also go here: http://forum.abit-usa.com/index.php? and read what others have to say about the different boards they offer. I like all the bios adjustments and set up they offer and I haven't had any problems. Ickie also buys different kinds of MB boards too. You might wanna get his advice too. These board run in the 125.00 to 200.00 range. I brought mine at Newegg. You can do a search here for the best price here: http://www.pricegrabber.com/home_comp.php they also offer what people say about the product....good luck, Mike

The board that you linked to isn't going to work very well with my Intel P4 processor. ;)
How do these look to you? http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/intel955x.php
FYI, here's what I already have to work with:
P4 670
7800 GTX (if it still works)
Audigy 2 ZS
74GB Raptor X 2
1GB DDR2 533MHz RAM X 2
Plus floppy drive, CD drive, DVD RW, Enermax power supply
