View Full Version : Stupid question

Hello:welcome:

I know this is a really stupid question, but: If I need to install another cooling fan, what way is it best put in: With the air being sucked out or in the computer. Seems kinda logical either way to me: Cold air going in to cool everything off, or hot air being pulled out... I'm asking because I can remember that my old computer sucked air in, the one I'm currently trying to fix is opposite. I need to put in another fan...
Thanks.:typing:

No such thing as a stupid question
i would guess pull the air out
the heat is coming from cpu etc
pull it out

If you have a case fan on the back of the tower, it would be pulling warm air out of the inside of the case. Hence fans on the front should be pushing air toward the inside. Some cases will allow air to be blown into the case through the side panel onto the processor. The only thing that screw up this analogy are sometimes power supply fans, since you can now mount the PSUs in the bottom of cases.

What case do you have? How many fans can be installed in your case?
