TacPack is going to add a new level of functionnality to our military planes in FSX. It's great to see Dino is loving it, I can't wait to see what this guy is going to create with his new toy :D

Thanks for your support and enthusiasm! I am not allowed to discuss Tacpack SDK details, but it offers fantastic opportunities for military simulation in FSX - and takes in account a lot of realistic factors (more than I thought of!). However, unfortunately I do not have the time to fully support all of its features - so for the moment it will be "guns only" (and possibly Sidewinders, if I can get them to work!).

Having previous experience loading and working with real sidewinder missiles, it would be a hoot to add the growl an tone sounds when missile has a lock.

I've attached winder growl sounds it goes from a search growl to lockon tone.

Thanks for the sound! It can definitely be done - although my experience with custom sound is minimal, so I am not sure I can get it right...
Anyway...First S/W for the Virtual F-14D!

If Dino puts those AIM9 Sidewinder growl and lockon sounds we got us a real Shazamm!!!!!! DONE! WORKS GREAT! And hats off to VRS guys - they have been really helpful, provided extremely quick and accurate answers to my questions...and taught me a couple of tricks I did not know.

Dino do we need anything other than the VRS TACPACK to make this work with your great F-14D v2?

You will need to wait for the SDK to be released for the full functionality. Right now you can use other non-VRS Super Bug models with TP. That means placing tankers and carriers at will, along with SAM sites. However, you will not know what's about to hit you (no radar warning receiver) . First time I used it in beta with all my AI on, lots of burning holes in the ground, the SAMs are deadly.

Actually, at the moment I am writing, the Tacpack SDK is in Beta stage and only (selected) developers and testers have a "special" build of Tacpack that allows the integration of Tacpack functionalities and the usage of the resulting models. At the moment, to install the Tacpack you must also have the VRS Superbug - but the current public build will not allow the Tomcat to shoot. So it may take a while... Anyway, guns and SW (visual mode only...including growl!) work!

Thanks Dino and Victory, I will keep my eyes open. I have the Superbug but will wait till the functionality includes your F-14D.

I have both the VRS bug, and the TACPAC. Have scarcely flown the bug, and never even attempted TACPAC. But when Dino's Tomcat is included in the ability of TACPAC, I will give it a try! NC

You mean Fox Two ;)

Gomen nasai..... Googled it and this is the straight skinny.

FOX-1 Implies that a semi-active radar guided missile is launched (mostly the Sparrow)
FOX-2 Is an IR Missile launch (Sidewinder)
FOX-3 is an active radar guided missile launch. (probably an AMRAAM)
