Love that retro look.

Reminds me of my old 35mm range finder from the early 70s. I had to send it back for repairs a couple of times when the film advance mechanism failed and when it failed again while taking pictures under canopy, I threw it away from about 500 feet up. It's probably still on that drop zone somewhere!

Hi,
The whole X series looks great. I'm thinking about an XE1 as that will take my old Nikkor lenses ...a new lease of life for them! The RX1 is a great camera, but at it's price (£2599 in England) it should be. A full frame sensor would be the best thing to use to scan your 35mm negs certainly but the APS-C is plenty powerful enough to provide wonderful images at almost any size you might want.

My film cameras sit in a drawer and I really resent the way digital imaging has somehow made darkroom photography at least twice as difficult as it was !
Now then, let me look on-line for a good price for the XE1.:sheep:

Oh yes for sure - love the "X" series. :cool:
The X-E1 looks great for sure but now that I've seen the improved X100s - I'm going to wait for those upgrades to implemented in an X-Pro2 or XE-2.

Over the summer, I did pick up an X100 on sale at the BX with the leather case - so for now, & now with the firmware updates, I'm quite satisfied with it. :mixedsmi:

Speaking of memories, my favorite 35mm SLR was the Pentax K1000. I foolishly sold it to move up to a Pentax ME Super which I still have. The lenses would work in either frame and I still have wide angle, 50mm and a zoom lens to 135mm.

I used a lot of black and white film back then (in the 80s) as I could develop it myself.

That X100s does look good!

I - just a week ago - joined the Fuji camp and it looks like a place to stay with the direction of the development of their cameras and lenses.

Am very happy with this camera - it handles so much like my favorite XD5.

As for film rangefinders I may start keeping my eye open for one.

I have a K1000 in my 'film' camera bag stashed away in the bedroom closet. I haven't put a roll of film through it in many years and it may even have a part used roll of film in there to this day!

Those Pentax's are good stuff - just seem to be in the shadow of Nikon & Canon all the time....:blind: But nevertheless great equipment & lenses! :jump:


B&W along with the chemicals are still readily available today....:cool:

Heh!, my Ricoh (purchased from Rick's Pawn Shop, Fayetteville N.C.) was always in the top middle pocket of my Large Alice, which meant it hit the ground first.....

Amazing how much abuse it took before it finally gave up the the ghost. My entire tour with the "deuce" was recorded on that thing.....

Hard to reach that pocket under canopy though.....

Rick's Pawn Shop? I've been there.

It was a great place to find neat stuff. All those privates in the 82d Airborne were always pawning the best stuff, including cameras.
