FSX or P3D on a laptop....just wondering

I don't know if I would actually attempt this. But wondered if FSX or P3D runs adequately on a laptop?

And if so, what about controllers? I thought maybe a game pad type controller would be better, portability-wise, than using my Saitek X52 system....

Ideas?

And, with regards to gamepad controllers....what about wireless?

Fsx actually runs fine on laptops... granted some grunt is required... but these days, more than easily possible. I run a copy on mine for testbed purposes... its my main personal machine (I use the bf's pc for major simming), so the laptop is where I do all my artwork. I've used it for flying quite a bit too when the other is unavailable. Not as grunty as you'd need, but it functions. FSX's major requirements are cpu churn, and ram. Give it that, its happy. Controllerwise... use anything you can on a pc really. depends where and how you set things up. I mostly use mouse yoke when testing... less hassle, works ok actually...

Thanks for your reply. Am sure there are a lot of laptops nowadays that will work ok. Was not always the case though!

As for a controller, I wonder if there is such a thing as a "mini-joystick"? Thinking out loud, is all!

I run FSX really well on an ASUS G73 laptop. It's got an I7 quadcore CPU, with 8Gigs RAM and a 1Gig vid card. At home, I use a full CH Products HOTAS (stick, throttle, pedals) but on the road I use a Saitek ST290 plug and play stick. I get great frames and it doesnt take up much space.

I run FSX on an ASUS as Storm describes. I fly internationally and do a lot of sim work on the road. For a controller I have a Saitek Cyborg X which breaks down and folds into a compact unit, even has twin throttles.

I use FSX on an Asus laptop, too. Got that one when I moved out and started to study. Got a nice monitor last year, and it runs pretty good, even at 1920x1200. It´s a K53SV, CoreI5, GT540M. Still on 4GB Ram, but on one chip, may some day upgrade it to 8GB, should not be too expensive, I guess. I do FSX at home only though.

Another ASUS G73 user here, runs FSX great but I have had a Mobo issue thanks to some travels to SW Asia. I carry a cheap Logitech stick that's survived so far.
