Simon and I have started work on our next FSAddon project: the famous Avro Anson twin rotary ;-)

As we do not have access to a real one ourselves currently (travel budgets have been cut severely) we could do with close up photos anyone could supply. They'll need to be free of copyright of course, or specifically allowing us to use them.

Meanwhile we study all the docs, Youtubes and pictures that can be found on the WWW of course......

Love the Anson myself so this sounds great!

Should it be twin radial instead of twin rotary?

Good news :icon_lol:
Looking forward to this project.

'rotary' is an 'internal joke' I have with someone. Radial is the correct word, yes ;-)

The Australian War Memorial has a genuine Anson cockpit in it's 'Planes' section. If you need photo's let me know.

Excellent news! I know that the Anson is right up Simon's 'alley'. If done to the full extent, the Anson is just packed full of 'stuff' throughout the cockpit and cabin, anywhere and everywhere.

Although all of these photos are right-protected, these will be very useful as reference for authentically fitting out the model. Some of these galleries have multiple pages.

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/avro-anson-restoration/01422/ (tons of detail pics - note how in some of the first photos, it shows how the minimal modern avionics can be covered over on this flying example, and when covered over the cockpit is no different in appearance than to the Ansons that operated during WWII)

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/1st-run-of-anson-engine/00512/

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/avro-anson-engine-run/00117/

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/flying-in-the-avro-anson/0192t/

As far as I know, these are all of the detail photos on the Classic Aircraft Photography page, but there are others as well, including air-to-air photos.

Francois, can you be a little more specific?
Are you attempting to produce the early fabric covered fuselage series, the later all metal versions or the lot?
'Aggie' had a large family.

Thanks for all the replies and interest! And although I just heard that another developer apparently also will e releasing a model soon, I think we'll just forge on and make ours 'one of our own', allowing it to feature in some other products we're working on behind the scenes. ;-)

As to the models, nothing set in stone yet, but knowing Simon we'll have a whole range of variations and liveries in one package.

Hi

Excellent news about the Anson. The first aircraft I managed to get inside of was a a late model of the RAF Communication Flight although I did not get to fly in it. I hope that your plans include these late variants which saw swervice in Military and Civilian guise for many years. The link is one of the best of the late models flying in the UK at present.

Good luck with the venture.

IT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA TO WORK ON THE AVRO ANSON... as there aren't very many good models around...

If it might interest you... I can do some very fine artwork for both VC and 2D cockpits...
check the thread I started in the FS 2000/2004 discussion forum where I have posted examples of my artistic capability...

JC, thanks, I already had that particular Youtube in my ever-growing list of references :-) Awesome sound eh?

@Gaucho: saw some very nice looking 2D panels. Unfortunately Simon doesn't do 2D panels, only virtual cockpit and interiors. We will release a paintkit of course....... but it will be several months yet until we have something to show. We've only just started !
