Not related to the asteroid that will make a close flyby today, but much scarier:pop4:

And then this was reported:

"Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a nationalist leader noted for vehement statements, said "It's not meteors falling. It's the test of a new weapon by the Americans," the RIA Novosti news agency reported."

Oh THAT is especially helpful, isn't it?

A tragedy, with so many deaths..... My prayers are with them all. NC

In the video that dvj posted, the "Earth-Shattering KABOOM!!" doesn't occur until about 30 seconds in. At 600 MPH, that comes out to around 5 miles up, assuming he started recording as soon as the rock passed overheasd, which seems unlikely. The smoke track looked like it had been there a little while, at least another 30 seconds. But then at high altitude the shock wave would have been moving slower than when it got down low... So it was 6 or 7 miles up when it passed over his house. It took a while for the shock wave to reach his camera, but when it did it was epic! :icon_lol:

And this was an itty bitty rock, compared to the one that hit Tunguska in 1908...

What is it with Siberia anyway?

He clearly has been listening to too much Alex Jones and his poison.

Deaths? I haven't seen any reports of any from this meteorite.
