This is a long shot I know, but take a look at the image and the accompanying file list. This is the problem I have. Flight19 (Willy, Taco, MM, Moses03 and myself) is taking a flight into Howard AFB tomorrow evening (Friday). I installed 4 airport sceneries and one called "Panama-X" which enhances the City area and landclass around the Locks. The image I've posted shows a group (a very large group) of fires and smoke around the bridge. You can't see the FPS counter for the sim, but at the time I took the pic it was 1.6. Those fires are killing the fps and unfortunately no matter which way I approach Howard, they are in the field of view and the sim almost dies because of them. They are not part of the Howard AFB scenery, I've already deactivated it and there was no change, I also deactivated Panama-X and saw no change. . .the files listed in the image are those associated with that scenery.

I'm hoping that maybe someone else has run into this problem in that area and has a suggestion on how to eliminate the fires and smoke. I have no other enhancements in that area, just Howard, three other airports nowhere near that area and the Panama-X scenery. Thanks!

Well, that'll teach me not to discount any possibility. I found the culprit. . .one of the other three airports I installed, 175 miles up the coast from Howard. Why on earth would someone place bonfires around the bridge near the locks while designing an airport that's that far away? Changuinola Airport is the culprit, so if by chance someone decides to install that one and you plan on also visiting the locks. . .remember this, lol.:salute:

I was thinking maybe those fires are the Panamanian version of "Campfire Girls", the roadside hookers in Naples, Italy who often burn tires to keep warm while waiting for customers to pull over. :icon_lol:

If you know what custom .fx files were installed with the scenery you just could rename the bonfires and see if that makes a difference.
You shouldn't see the fires anymore after doing that.
If the .fx files are default, which I don't believe, you could do the same but would loose the default effect in all sceneries.

(you have to stop FSX and start it again to put changes in the \effects\ folder into being).

If the scenery has a special bgl for the bonfire effect placement you could stop FSX / deactivate the scenery, rename the bgl suffix to .bgl_deac or something like that and start / activate the scenery again. This would be the cleanest way of getting rid of them, but only if the bgl contains just these fires. If there's more in it you'll loose that, too.
You also might be able to read that OBX bgl into SBX if there are just objects in it (SBX regards effects as an object). Remove the FX (red star icons) and recompile it.

Howdy,

I solved the frame rate issue by removing or renaming mpch-filler.bgl within the MPCH Changuinola folder.

Thanks. I just deleted it entirely, It wasn't one I was going to fly to anyway. The majority of the scenery I download and install for Flight19 flights are "One and Done" types. We fly there, save the flight, meet the following night and head on to another airport. I then delete most, if not all of them as I won't ever fly to those areas again.

I appreciate Falcon bringing up the subject, which motivated me to find an interim solution and allowed me to continue using the airport and the Canal Zone with good framerate.

FSX Scenery--Changuinola MPCH, Panama. Fixes the many explosive vehicles added by my kid around Americas Bridge. Sorry for that. This improves default scenery for MPCH. You may enjoy this add-on by flying your favorite aircraft or driving a car or sailing from Finca las 60s to Bocas Del Toro Island. By Victor Pinto.

Many thanks for the upgrade fix.
