Some years ago Rick Piper made a Slingsby T21 / TX1 glider for Fs9. I was as pleased as punch as in 1965 in the Air Training Corps I was winched to 1000' in a Slingsby. I briefly had the stick but most of all I remember the summer sunset over the river Dee and the smoothness of the air. Well a few years ago I asked Rick if he would consider an upgrade to FsX. I heard no more but tonight browsing the CBFSIM Library I found an FsX, native Slingsby posted there. Fantastic:engel016: http://www.cbfsim.co.uk/cbfs_lib/

My first flight experience came via a T21 and the Air Cadets too. :icon_lol:

I later took the full gliding course in the tandem Slingsby gliders.

It's really worth the download Larry...and he's added external sounds which are rare with gliders:applause:

I flew in one at RAF Leeming and also at Sutton Bank Gliding Club many, many years ago.
They got a lot of lads into flying, they were a great Sailplane.

I had a FSX beta version a couple of years ago that was good but still needed a bit of tweaking and gauges (what few there are) fixing. I'm glad to see it's finally out.

Yeah, she's a beauty! I've been flying her (with my own custom civvie paint) around Diamond Point off and on for a while.

There are some other really nice gliders out there if you look around, too.

UK Virtual gliding had an FSX version on their webpage but this seems better - not has good as the real thing though. First glider (don't think I'd call a Barge a 'sailplane' - although one did do 300km in the UK- downwind!) I ever flew - got me hoooked on gliding/soaring. This was with the RAFGSA not the ATC thank goodness.

A real fun glider though. Solo'd one at 16 + 1 week, as it snowed all day on my birthday, got my Bronze C in one, in Feburary, in thermals in the UK. Think I have flown 4 or 5 different ones over the years including the 'luxury version' with enclosed canopy.

A pity more people don't model gliders/sailplanes for FSX - Wolgang Piper is about the only guy that does freeware ones now, although Dave Rowberry did some nice flying wing models - Horten, Genesis, SB13. Would be nice to see some of the more modern sailplanes used in Condor soaring simulator in FSX. Make up for that woefull DG808S Microsoft produced -why they choose that model GOK's - the least popular R/L 18m sailplane going!

Bruce, I also learned to glide in a T21, at the Blackpool & Fylde Gliding Club ay Chipping, Lancs (now re named Forest of Bowland Gliding Cub, because it's noware near Blackpool). Yes Ricks T21's great and you should try flying it with the UK2000 Sutton Bank scenery, which is a free download if you have bought the Northern Airports pack, it's well worth it!

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian ,

Yes I already have the Sutton Bank scenery, I can see the White Horse also from my window on a clear day.

Bruce,
Neil Birch made a model of Bowland forest Gliding club here:

File name bgc.zip

It's good, but when you load a flight it positions the glider facing the wrong direction, which is a problem because taxying a glider is not good!

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian I will have a look at that.

By the way the version I am using of Sutton Bank is not UK2000, It's called SuttonBank_XSUT from Alf's UK Airfields Vol 11.
