Hi all,

Are there any tutorials on getting gmax models into the FS mdl format? I've got the fs2002 sdk, Middleman and mdlcommander proggy's but even though I've installed to them to the letter nothing I can't get anything to work!

There's work afoot on getting models into BoB2 and early (fs2k/cfs2/cfs1) .mdl formats could well be the way to go.

Thanks,

Pat:)

Hey Pat,

Is it givin ya any errors messages or anything??

Need more info on what's goin on.

Don't think you can use gmax to make planes for cfs1

No error messages Gramps, but when I hit the export button in Gmax, the Makemdl options dialogue box just flashes up and then doesn't stick around long enough for me to specify anything. An mdl file is created but its really small, just a few kb. Is there an mdl viewer so I can see what it is?

There is no tutorial to get Gmax 1.2 files into the earlier sims, but this thread helped me get the various programs ( Mdlcommander, Middleman, and Makemdl) to generate the .MDL.

Look at the last few posts and read the docs with the programs listed above for the process.

You can get mdlcommander and makemdl to stop by doing an "Export Selected" versus an export from gmax. You can also select Scenery Object as the export model type and that will pause it so you can select options.
