Request repaint from Manfred Jahn's Dc3 of a Navy R4D as per attached file.

This is from a model airplane kit but I like the paint. I assume that a base name/command was stenciled in middle of orange ring, that be the case I would like MEMPHIS there.
Thanks a bunch. :salute:

I don't think NAS Memphis had an (They might of been R4D with their brand name on it.) So this on ^ would be good too.

Here is the link where I got this photo, they have Navy/Marine R4D's there as well. If you seen any that look better then ^ at the link below then surprise me

I tried out another repaint from : http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/5511/fsx-us-navy-narf-douglas-c-47/ and there was a small issue when you looked
out the pilots side glass and saw a spinning black disk till shut down ; I had my AH HA moment and notice his texture.cfg did not have the same data content as the other repaints.
so I cut and paste a know good texture.cfg file and it works/look much better.

Would of been nice to have a MATS navy version but don't know if MAAM SIM would complain.

Sorry for taking so long. But I was finishing up some skyhawks and doing research for the Memphis R-4D. Memphis did indeed have an R4D-6 and I'll soon do a paint for it. When Manfred Jahn's R4D-8 is finished look for a few of those as well.

Thank you John for the repaint. I have it pictured over KNQA Millington Muni (Formally NAS Millington). I never new there was an R4D assigned here.

I grabbed it too! Thanks John. :icon29:

There was one there in early '72, but, I don't remember the reddish band being on the fuse.
I did find a pic from '67 with an R4D on the flightline: http://www.panoramio.com/photo_explorer#view=photo&position=4141&with_photo_id=63578683&order=date_desc&user=4721440

Actually in 67 that would be a C-117D. The orange band was discontinued in 64, it denoted a reserve unit. Hence the 6M. M being Memphis, 6 being the NARTU, NATTC being 4M. According to the FY reports, soon after this the C-47 was replaced with the C-117D. All during the 50's Memphis had a complement of R4D's.
