Anyone know where I can download a fairly recent rendition (just afcad is fine) of VNY? Payware is fine too...

I fly on Pilot Edge and the airport is stock 2006 data... the charts are newer of course..

I find it amazing that given the history and popularity of Van Nuys, that nothing (extensive) has ever been done for it. I think there are some sceneries out there, but nothing accurate.

Hmm I might just open ADEX and move the taxi signs and taxiways to fit the new airport. I'm not great with ADEX but I'll try.

I did some checking and back in August there was an announcement on the Avsim Developers forum that a small team was working on a detailed rendition of Van Nuys. In September there was a post stating that they wouldn't post any images until it was in "beta" and that they were expecting a late Dec 2012 release. Nothing else was ever posted and those are the only two posts since the announcement went out in August. My guess is it won't be happening any time soon, if at all.

Ryan, plug this into the flightsim.com search box "kvny.zip" (without the quotes). It's an AFCAD put out by Smith Graphics for Van Nuys. . .may save you some work.

What's wrong with the default? It's kinda close to real life... :kilroy:

Grab a good background image, but be prepared to strip it bare and rebuild the thing. I'd guesstimate a good three, four hours depending upon how precise you want to be.

Yeah the layout is fine but the taxi signs are all wrong... There's a few other things I'd try to change too.

Yeah... you obviously know what you're doing hehe. I did my home airport KDLH with help of a nice guy (he made me a photoreal backdrop and I color corrected it)... and it's decent. But I've spent many hours on that (far more than experienced ADEX users). This one would just be basic... updating the signs etc.

IDK I haven't actually downloaded that 2008 one maybe the signs are correct.. I'll have to check it out.

EDIT: Screw it lol... I'm already in ADEX working on some updates... it won't be amazing quality work but it will be decent enough for people who fly online with current charts.

I do believe that Aerosoft is doing a detailed payware rendition...they announced it a few months ago, not sure where that thread has gone but if I find it I will post it here....

From a quick look earlier, the runway is off-center to where it needs to be and it's heading is off. With that goes most all the taxi way layout.

If you need a background image, LMK. Seems they've done some major work compared to the default airport.

Aerosoft's US Cities X: Los Angeles has a new KVNY. Nothing special, but it's likely more contemporary in the detail.

If anyone cares I did a quick rough update to the airport... mostly taxiway signage and adjustments to the VASI's... also a few other things too...

I put the file on my Skydrive
