This plane have give me more work that expected (specialy whit the animation)
The mission was done and I have made 4 mission, 2 day mission and 1 night mission, the last mission will be a multyplayer mission.
Now I'm attacking the last part of my projet, The USS Langley life boat, Is not so easy to do this little boat, I have no plan just some picture. so if somebody want to help, I will be able to release it more soon.:icon29:

Here is the 39B approaching my version of the CV-1 Langley. This was my FS9 model which I upgraded the textures and fixed a few zits and then compiled with Xtomdl so it is FSX native. I have it loaded in aicarriers. BTW the Aeromarine has a hard time catching up to the Langley on final. This is a well done plane and I look forward to your new Langley.

Best, Paul

Yes Some have reported this problem in my email

I have checked my sdk configuration and I'm pretty sure it was compiled whit fsx sp2 acceleration sdk ? is there a way to verify this in FSX I d'ont remember how ?

look very nice :applause::jump: I think I have your static FS9 model somewhere in fs9, Have you made the life boat on your model ?

I find hard to made those life boats :kilroy:

Yeah, now that I realize what I am looking at, I get the same thing. I took a look at the textures and most are DXT1 without alpha which means no transparency. I can't easily find a texture for the windscreens so if it was done in the model the material must have some transparency. Here is what it looks like in FSX Acceleration.

The FS9 version has been available at Flightsim and simviation for a few years. I have not uploaded the FSX version as it is not really complete; I just wanted something historically correct for the Aeromarine. The subject of this thread looks more detailed and probably made from better drawings than I have.

Hello,

I have downloaded and installed the v2.0 of your wonderful model. I use frsx/Acceleration and the windshield is opaque in the VC. But view from outside the windshield is transparent. If it is convenient to you, send me the modification to the model you have done to eliminate the opaque windshield. I can beta test your modification.

Regarding the VC glass problem, it appears you did everything right with the glass on the exterior model. It is appropriately transparent from all directions. Why don't you copy and paste the exterior glass parts into the VC or, at least, give the VC glass the same material and texture parameters?

Is the material (before texturing) the same? I don't use gmax (I still puddle along with FSDSv3.51 and FSXTweak) so I can't look at your source code, but both must adhere to the proper SDK (I use the Acceleration version of Xtomdl to compile). I have used the same material and texture for the exterior and internal model on several projects and never had this problem. There is something strange happening here; I am sure it is not a problem with FSX or other designers would be seeing the same thing.

The problem whit M$ FSX in the incompatibility whit each version (retail sp1,
sp1a, sp2, acceleration, and sp2 acceleration) some have reported that they see
through the windows but its raining in the interior windows other say its
opaque, and other have no trouble ? whit fs9 it was so simple to do a model.
whit FSX you get a lot of incompatibility trouble whit animation, and alpha etc
etc...

mjrhealth
January 10th, 2013, 00:20
In SP2 and acceleration teh Alpha has to be almost dark grey for the window to be clear. Why do they have to change things.

Its in roughly, her 1941-43 configuration. Fighting Mary was the only US Dreadnought to go through WW.II substantally unaltered from her pre war appearence, only gaining improved fire control, secondary and tertiary batteries, and loosing her aft bird cage mast by 1943. I think this should work better. Maryland is too far from being workable. Had lots of these guys going at once, ran nice and smooth re FPS
Sorry 'bout the 'orrid spelling. No, not a stroke. I flail away one handed at the keyboard and correct the spelling latter.
As part of this weeks comedic cavalcade of cascading catastrophes, the SOH interface has not been allowing edits.

FSX AI USS Clemson class fleet Destroyers

The Clemson class was a series of 156 destroyers which served with the United States Navy
from after World War I through World War II. The Clemson-class ships were commissioned
by the United States Navy from 1919 to 1922, built by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company,
New York Shipbuilding Corporation, William Cramp and Sons, Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Mare Island Naval Shipyard,
Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Bath Iron Works, some quite rapidly. The Clemson class was a minor
redesign of the Wickes class, and was the last pre-World War II class of flush-decker destroyers to be built for
the United States. Until the Fletcher-class destroyer, the Clemsons were the most numerous class of destroyers
commissioned in the United States Navy, and were known colloquially as "four-stackers" or "four-pipers."

Clemson class AVP bgl by Earl Watkins and Wayne Tudor for the wicked Kerama Retto Seadrome scenery. Reduced drawcalls,
cleaned out texture files, added hard deck(why not?)and converted with FSX SDK. Surplus DD's were converted to Seaplane Tenders
and Attack and Commando Transports by removing the forward boiler room and two stacks, the spaces used then for;
what we call today 'the Mission Bay'. So how do we convert the AVD back into a Destroyer? By building a new forward machinery
set out of electronium and welding it into the ships with Bianry inert pixel welding. Or we'll use the AICarriers config.
I Made a pair of Stacks, built the scale and position in, and attached default smoke. The model is set in formation
at the same position as the Up dated Clemson AVD model in the AIcarriers config file (provided). The speed and acceleration constants must be
the same for both models.

Use the provided config file for AICarriers.

Bink.Quick 1919-45 Fleet Destroyer.

I hope Mr. Watkins doesn't mind. I have Emailed him a number of time. I checked the sent messages log. The oldest ones go
back over a year.

BETA version. Update or what ever as required.
For use by Ronald Dandurand as he sees fit, and SOH members for testing ect, ect, usual dire warnings, yadayadayada, have fun.

Its a Earl Watkins BGL model. I did the easy stuff- forward funnels model and skut work, ect. It not a 100% accurate Clemson for the 1920's, but more than close enough, as they tended to hack stuff off the Clemsons because of excess topweight rather than put stuff on them. I have had the AVD on the HD for ages, and did not clue in; AVD. DD. HEY! There's your Destroyer. Why reinvent the wheel? All the basic Clemson variants are accesable this way, as well. Has every one got any troubles with the AICarriers set up?

While Woody was adjusting the Aeromarine to allow for transparent windscreens in VC view I was flying his first version around San Diego. I noticed the national insignia on the wings were not quite round so I tweaked the "decal" dds file. Here is my version (see attachment), just unzip and drop the dds file into the aircraft's texture folder to overwrite the original. This is a great airplane and I'm really looking forward to flying aboard Woody's Langley.

USS Langley and mission will fallow soon stey tuned !.

Woody,

Did you incorporate the decal fix in your V3? Also I can't seem to get the Maryland to show up in AI Carriers; just the menu. I noticed that that file was pulled, was it
flawed? If you did make it work could you give me a few details on how you made it show in AI carriers. It's a cool looking ship... and thanks!

Woody, I didn't mention the decal when I noticed it because you were working to fix the VC windscreen transparency and I thought it would seem like I was finding more faults with your plane. When I saw it was an easy fix I just did it for myself, but since everybody likes your plane I decided to upload it with my post for others to use. Sorry I didn't send you a private message.

Since it's very hard to find what you are interested in at YouTube, I submit this link to a 28 Minute video called 'THE ATTACK CARRIER - FROM USS LANGLEY CV1 TO USS ENTERPRISE CVAN 65'. It is 360 dpi so it plays good (hit pause and it will 'load ahead' for less pauses, and thus, smoother play). If you have Bandicam, or Fraps, you can record it by clicking on 'screen' to play in Full Screen (only way they can record).
Link: http://youtu.be/kWUqqIvzEPo .
After all that work you guys deserve a break. :icon29:

Actually, I can't get the vessel to load correctly in AICarriers nor does it show visually when placing with Bglcomp.:isadizzy::isadizzy:

Here none have reported problem, some have tested the ship and plane and except for the catapult speed to fast, none have reported any problem.:ques:

Does your FSX folder is in conventional c: drive ? if not chek if all file is in good place in fsx.

Btw paul I have try your cesna 120 last years, I love this old cesna model , Do you have made a new version or the one I have loaded was not your model ? I see it in simviation vintage same page of my Aeromarine ?

Does somebody have finaly Rejoining the Langley in mission 2 ?

The day I have try the "famous mission" the weather and visibility was so bad that I have never find the old covered lady :bump:

But I promise I will try again whene the weather was bether. :icon_lol:

Here is my aicarriers.cfg entry for the early version of Langley. I used the .exe auto-installer file for the ship, showed up fine in AICarriers first time I selected it...

[formation.14]
title=USS Langley (CV-1)
unit.0=VEH_USS_Langley_1920_CV1, 0, 0

I had all the entries correct so I got smart and looked at the vessel .mdl file with MDLConvertX and got an error message saying the file was corrupt. I redownloaded it from Simviation and now all is good.

Very nice carrier! Thanks for the help TARPSBird.

Just one thing to verify I have see a video of a catapultage on the langley whit RFN gauge but there no steam on the catapult do you guys see the steam from the catapult ?

All the references I have state the Langley had 2 (later just 1) pneumatic (compressed air) catapults. Steam catapults came much later.

Exact Paul first I have read that they have only 1 catapult but later a have read somewhere that they have 2 so I was partaged of mading 1 or 2 catapult so finaly I have upted for one :running:!

BTW Paul you have not respond to my question last day ? have you made a new cesna 120 ?
