This was posted on the FS9 Forums, but this was interesting enough that I thought I would post it here as well. Available on flightsim.com, this is the same aircraft that was originally done by Rick Piper (the one I've always flown). The advantage to this version is that it also comes with ski's and as an Amphib. It requires some adjustment to the glass texture and a replacement prop (I used the one from Rick's version). If anyone is interested in bringing this into FSX, let me know and I'll post the glass and prop corrections.

The files were originally hosted on the now discontinued Horizon Simulations Forum. Included are four textures. The A22 'Foxbat' is available as a ready-to-fly factory built aircraft or as an advanced kit. Designed by former Antonov design engineer Yuri Yakovlev , the A-22 is one of a line of many aircraft produced by Aeroprakt. Construction is aluminium with some parts of the wing and control surfaces covered with Ceconite. The A-22 is powered by the reliable Rotax 912 or 912S engine, and the 3-blade composite ground adjustable propellor from KievProp is very quiet. By Rick Piper.

There are two of them now. One by Rick Piper and a new FS9 one by V. Zhyhulskiy. Original thread here (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?74548-New-A-22LS-Foxbat).

Yep, sure is, but as I stated in my original post, the one by V. Zhyhulskiy has the added bonus of an Amphib and Ski version. That's the only reason I posted it over here. . . .to let folks know that it's available if they want those additional models. Understand that this FS9 model requires some tweaking; The glass texture requires an alpha channel and the prop blur needs to be replaced. Here's what I did to correct those two things in FSX:
glass texture. . . . .I made a grayscale version of the glass texture, converted that to a negative image, darkened it to my taste and imported that as the alpha (saved as 32bit)
Prop Blur. . . . . . . .I used the one from Rick's Foxbat.

The reason for the way I did this glass texture alpha is evident when you look at the texture. If you simply use a dark gray alpha you lose the highlights and images that are part of that texture.:salute:

Interesting to read about the glass, might have to have a little play about with some of my FS2004 portovers. I still love Rick's Foxbat, as have been very lucky to have tried the real thing out a few years ago, before the then owner bought an Eurostar, which has to be in my opinion the best LSA there is.

Not sure if there ever was a Foxbat with floats or skis, but it does look interesting to say the least!!!

Best wishes,

Martin

Might as well post these here. I was playing around with it near Courchevel, one thing led to another and by this evening I had purchased the amazing LLH rendition of Courchevel for FSX.

A22 Foxbats are sold in the US by Floatplanes and Amphibs (FPNA (http://www.fpna.com)) in two flavours. First as the wheeled A22 Valor, and second as the float equipped Capetown.

Actually, I haven't felt like doing much the past few days as I've had the flu, so I haven't posted anything yet. If you think I'm ignoring you, report me, otherwise, hold your horses and when I get around to it I'll post the file and let everyone know!:salute:

No need for reports, stalinist practices aren't necessary me thinks, just some feedback.
Hope you are well soon.

Hey Falcon, get well soon. The flu just finished trampling my body like a Clydesdale. I, too, patiently await your port-over magic. Thanks in advance!

Here is a link to the zipfile:

There is a readme included. . . .Read it!
If you are interested in doing additional Ski liveries and have the programs to do your own repaints then take a look at the "A22_wing2" texture for the single Ski version included in the original download and compare it to the wheeled version texture. All that's required is to cut and paste the "skid texture" onto the texture for any other livery you want to add as a Ski Livery. That's the only difference.:salute:
