Thank you Craig on another outstanding aircraft.:medals:
Just took her out for a quick circuit and notice that there are no gauges.
I checked the panel folder in the d/l and there are none.
Other than that, i'll be flying her for a while as she flies and looks beautiful.

Hi Joe,

The gauges are all 3d the only file in the panel folder will be the panel. Cfg which is not needed for any of the 3d gauges. Not sure what the issue is maybe the textures are not loading in

Hmm, Got me thinking...(sometimes not a good thing:icon_lol:) I fly in dx10, so will go and check if this is just in dx10 or if i have a conflict on my rig.

Joe

Edit: I just checked by switching back to dx9 and at least on my rig the gauges do show. I'm wondering if anybody who does fly in dx10 (Roger)
can confirm if they have the same problem or if its my rig. I also should mention that I am using the dx10 shader fix 3.2.1. I did d/l v3.2.2 but
haven't got around to installing it.

gaucho_59,
I use Photobucket to post the bigger pics you see, but even photobucket resizes the pics. (but not as thumbnails) There are other photo sharing sites out there that are free to use. If you go with photobucket its pretty simple to use....

Once you created an account, upload the pics you want to use, once that is done, go to view library, hover your mouse over the pic in the top right corner, and then click on "Get Media Link". There are a 4 different ways to share the photo. The one to use for posting here will be the IMG code. Click on the IMG link, (it will copy the link) then you can paste the link into your post.

This is a "WoW" again, Bernhard ... :icon29:

Since it is sporting the 1936 Olympic rings, have you thought of making a tail version with the politically incorrect 'Sw.....a' for those wanting a more historically correct representation of the airplanes of that period ?

Thanks again for your repaints !

The swastika on the tail fin from German aircraft was introduced in an official instruction dated 20 March 1934. However only on one side (left). On the other side the German flag was painted. On 29 August 1936 a new instruction was issued that the swastika (including the red band) should be painted on both sides.

The "new squadron colours" (coloured noses) and codes were introduced already in March 1936, therefore it is very unlikely that a Heinkel He51 has ever flown with civil registration and swastikas on both sides of the tail fin.

This hobby has the historical dimension also and personally I often compare it with building plastic models where correct historical markings are of great relevance. My way of simming includes researching the history of the planes I fly and thanks to the internet we can usually find even photos of the planes in question.

What comes to the historical markings or any unpleasant events in history denying them won't make them disappear, quite the contrary.

... What comes to the historical markings or any unpleasant events in history denying them won't make them disappear, quite the contrary. I fully agree but unfortunately the distribution of swastikas (on anything no matter what) is against German law, so Bernhard could get himself into trouble if he publishes a repaint with a swastika on it.
That's the very same reason why you get Mathias' fantastic Focke-Wulfs (Classic Hangar) without swastikas only.

Thank you for the note.
The situation is thereby clearly explained.

To illustrate, how serious this is meant:
These regulations go so far in Germany, that in British aviation magazines
(which you can buy in International-Press-Stores: Aeroplane monthly, Aviation News, Classic Aircraft ...),
illustrations with relevant symbols are censored with black pen.

Craig, excellent work; Bernard, excellent liveries. I wanted to add a two-pense also if I may. I noticed all of the propspins are shared with the original prop texture. Therefore, I made new prop textures for the individual textures. Please read the Read Me very good to install the proper textures into each folder and add the line in the aircraft.cfg shown. Be sure and backup Craig's original texture in case you wish to revert back to it.

I need to find more time to be able to fly this superb aircraft. I love the screenshots and repaints!

For some reason having not said it before, thank you Craig and Huub for all of the work you did on these aircraft! It is a stunning production, and a treat to have such a generous gift.

:kilroy: now, how do you expect a perfectly fictitious aircraft to be painted in a historically correct livery when history itself won't play the game ... :blind: ... :isadizzy: ... :gameoff:

How about Latvia or Finland... ? Anyone interested in a fictitious livery of a brand new HE-51 on a lend-lease to those countries ?... :icon_lol:

Better luck next time ... :icon_eek:

Cheers,

Found some time to get some paint and 'Sw---as' on this gorgeous aircraft...
Two of these repaints are essentially fictitious (Finland and Latvia) but "could have been" ! The third one is my "interpretation" of Harro Harder's mount on his first tour of duty in the Legion Condor. It is still a WIP but I'm getting close...
I use the word "interpretation" as it seems that camouflage was an ongoing process on the HE-51, starting with the overall grey skin and a decision being made to camouflage them with a few blotches of darker paint, to something that your dog wouldn't probably want to play with... :icon_lol:

I found two profiles of the same aircraft, both different, with more paint being added from one to the next as time goes by. There are also a few pics of Harder's plane, with the last picture showing that the pilot had done a beautiful candle light, it being mostly the main subject of my repaint. I have used paints which were available for the 1937-38 period and gave it my best...

You will notice that numbers (2-64) are not painted yet on Harder's fuselage as I have not found the correct fonts (or ones that would come close) that were used for that period by the Legion Condor. Anyone have a suggestion ?

They should be ready for download this weekend.

Cheers,

Fleurdelys

Thanks Fleurdelys! I had planned to do the Harder repaint as well, but I can take that one from my list now.

This is what I'm currently working at.... I thought Craig deserved a RAF repaint :icon_lol:

During the Battle of the Ebro, autumn 1938 a disoriented Spanish pilot from Grupo Cadena landed his undamaged Heinkel He51 in Republican controlled area around Valencia. By that time the Republican forces were already split in communists and anarchists groups and both sides didn't allow the other side use this aircraft. The aircraft was secretly flown to France and from there shipped to the United Kingdom. It received the RAF registration AB210 and was briefly tested by the RAF and Rolls-Royce at Hucknall airfield. However as the aircraft was already considered obsolete it was soon left abandoned in a remote corner of the airfield.

When the No. 25 (Polish) Elementary Flying Training School was formed at Hucknall in 1941, the Heinkel was brought back to flying condition by the Polish ground crews, which were trained there. The aircraft was baptised "Gretchen" and used for all sorts of (unofficial) purposes.
It remained in use until the engine seized early 1943. Attempts to replace the engine by a Rolls-Royce Kestrel failed and the aircraft was eventually burned in summer 1943.

I hope to finish this repaint during the weekend.

Got you!!! It isn't strange you have never heard of this aircraft as I made up the story earlier this evening. :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

However some things are true, for instance Hucknall was the RAF and Rolls-Royce test field and Polish pilots and ground crews were trained there after 1941. The rest of the story is just a product of my imagination....

As far as I know the Republicans used every aircraft they could lay their hands on. In 1938 the Republicans were split in two camps, but as they had lost he support from France and the United Kingdom al ready, it would not be a logical thing to give an aircraft to their former allies. One He-51 was actually really captured during the Spanish civil war, but this was given to the Sovjets (the white with yellow one).

When it would have been given to the British, the He51 would definitely have been in a museum like the Italian FIAT Cr.42 which landed at the beach near Orford Ness.

Cheers,
Huub

The RAF textures for the Heinkel should be available in the file library now. Sorry for the delay but due to a technical problem I was not able to upload them earlier.

Enjoy,
Huub

Super paint, Huub

I love the abused look that you've given her and the attention to the little details such as the warnings inside and out, paint chipping and pot shots in the spats... :icon29:
