Always liked this plane and the concept behind. Too bad it was scarred by a sad accident.

Thank you for doing this. It would be great for observation of nice scenery.

So, this morning i woke up from something in my dreams. The house was cold and i was wet from sweat from head to toe.. I blame it on the pizza last night.. So anyway, i get up and get on the computer and open soh up and theres a message waiting for me.. Dear Pam, would you please take a look at the flight model? Craig.. hey,do cows give milk?? Oh hell yeah.. Si I downloaded it and started my usual testing.. a tweak here,a tweak there, all small stuff really and mostly me being nit picky.. That was 5AM.. I just stopped flying it for a moment not six minutes ago. This thing is incredible fun.. Cruising speed 70 knots, max speed 126 knots, stall speed somewhere around 35 knots. It turns on a dime in the air and on the ground, and as long as you watch your speed,its one of the easiest birds to fly ive ever seen. Its a true delight and I'm really honored to be a part of it.. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k171/urushira/2012-12-14_7-58-32-449_zps6debfaf6.jpg

Is it just me or did he almost land in the undershoot?

Oddly enough I do fly out of the airfield in the video, Thruxton fact fans, and I've seen that Optica knocking around from time to time. My weapon of choice is the R-44 briefly seen towards the end of the film though.

Dave.

Not sure there was enough force to pull someone into the fan or not.. But the real reasons for so fewmade are even more tragic. First there was the crash of a police model that bankrupted the original Brooklands Aerospace ( builders of the optika ) and Edgley himself. He sold the design to another company and well, that company burned to the ground, Then the FAA stepped in and placed a grounding order on it because of cracks appearing ( though the order is unenforced as there are still two of the aircraft flying ). Then Edgley bought the design back,hoping to start building it again..

i allready have a paint request,yellow overall,with a block type lettering with a shadow,not sure how to describe it properly..but the "N" id like on it..fake one ocfourse "N430DK"...the main body of the letters/numbers in a blood red/dark red...and black shadowing/highlighting..on the vertical tail surfaces..id like "Dirty Daves air service"

id really apprieate it if someone could do this for me, i cant even figure out how to paint a plane....i did do a paint once on lionhearts kodiac....looked nice..but it had a "chrome" appearance to the paint..like the paint had been put on in a tinted chome plating....and it was purple.....i had tried to make it blue....people told me to use DTX program and use the alpha channel....but i dont understand the alpha channel thing at all....how do you change it ect?...

Neat plane! Thanks for making it freeware.

I've got a few minor bugs on my end.
1) Using the gear function (I pressed the button by accident on my joystick) I hear a gear sound and if FSX thinks my gear is up (even though this plane is fixed) I will crash on landing. Can gear be disabled?
2) "S" is backwards on the DG
3) There's no little carrot on the attitude indicator that would line up with the degrees of bank near the top

And a question about the throttle and mixture levers... When I idle them they appear only halfway back in the VC.

in the aircraft.cfg the 12th and 13th parameter for the 0,1 and 2 contact indicate the extension and retraction time for the wheels. change them to 0 and the wheels will not retract.

Is:
point.0 = 1, 7.8939, 0, -4.0463, 1181, 0, 0.6, 30, 0.15, 2.5, 0.6, 3.5, 3.5, 0, 165, 165
point.1 = 1, -1.38, 5.7, -3.8, 1575, 2, 0.7, 0, 0.468, 1.932, 0.65, 5.2, 5.2, 3, 165, 165
point.2 = 1, -1.38, -5.7, -3.8, 1575, 1, 0.7, 0, 0.468, 1.932, 0.65, 5.2, 5.2, 2, 165, 165

Should be:
point.0 = 1, 7.8939, 0, -4.0463, 1181, 0, 0.6, 30, 0.15, 2.5, 0.6, 0, 0, 0, 165, 165
point.1 = 1, -1.38, 5.7, -3.8, 1575, 2, 0.7, 0, 0.468, 1.932, 0.65, 0, 0, 3, 165, 165
point.2 = 1, -1.38, -5.7, -3.8, 1575, 1, 0.7, 0, 0.468, 1.932, 0.65, 0, 0, 2, 165, 165

The other two will take a little more work :)

I'm guessing this is on the external model ? as I deleted the interior glass as It had some weird effects when viewed at night with the VC light on.

Actually, it's the "Avionics" switch that's opposite of all the others....all switches flip "up" for ON....the Avionics switch flips "down" for ON.:salute:

yes, i changed the original viewpoint to center on the stick and chair. really, it needed to be centered and moved forward with the amount of zoom being reduced, but i dont know how to change the zoom factor.. even zoom level 0.90 would take your head out of the door. I just dont know how..

Don't touch left to right, you don't accomplish anything except throw off your center. I also use trackIR and simply changed the first set of numbers from 4.29 to 4.69 which moves you forward so that you're sitting "in" the seat rather than sitting "inside" the seat if you get my meaning. This allows you to look left and back and see the entire interior and also allows you to look outside and back to view the gear and wing area.

Disclaimer: This works for me, works perfectly actually. . .That does not necessarily mean it will work perfectly for you, however I still believe that the proper view can be accomplished by changing the first numbers and no others.

Many thanks for a beautiful model and freebee, Craig and Pam. Great for low and slow. Terrain textures have time to display full resolution.

I am not fond of unusual or weird looking aircraft. But my son is a fan of the strange. That said, Oh BOY I love this plane!!! Thank you for the sweet gift.

My son is a police officer and when he gets some spare time I am sure he will love it too.

Add this to the aircraft.cfg file for a center seat viewpoint. You can change the Initialzoom setting as you desire if 50% is too wide of an angle. Cycle to the view while in VC mode with the A key. I've adjusted the pan rate for faster viewing left/right and up/down movement using your hat switch.

Thank you Craig and Pam for this unique aircraft. I'm having great fun with her and she's brilliant for admiring scenery low and slow.

Also thanks Craig for some of your other brilliant releases this year, particularly the FSX native conversions of the old favourites from FS2004. As a vintage aviation buff, it was great to have these back in the FS skies again.

Happy New Year to you and yours,

Ade

I've been watching this thread.

I downloaded and installed this plane a couple days ago from flightsim.com

My question is.Do I need to download and install the optica_fix.zip that I'm seeing in this thread?.

Thanks Full.

I got your latest version from your link.I deleted the previous version I had.So I won't worry about the fix update that was showing up.

Anyone know why this crashes P3D v4.1? It looks like it should work when looking at the files that make it up. The preview comes up fine but when you actually try to load it, P3D crashes.
