Hi, anyone uses SweetFX for FSX? This is programm like enb but with more options.

Looks mutch better. I used only for RoF sim, but looks than it can be used in any game.

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/389455-have-any-of-you-tried-this-sweetfx/page__hl__sweetfx

btw. Rise of Flight is amazing with this mod.

I may have to try this, thanks for the HU YoYo, when you look at default Fsx it's so flat and boring so these filters/tweaks really are very important to any serious simmer!

Seems promising as a replacement for HDR and does more stuff too. I will try it. Thanks very much YoYo!:salute:

Noticed this a while ago, but as some seemed to have a fps drop I didn't try it as I need all the fps I can get with my elderly rig! I'd be interested in SOH members results so if you try it please post your experiences with this mod.

Yo Yo, I gave SweetFX a try and like what I see. The scenery and even the aircraft look much improved from the first look. I will be checking everything over the next week before making a final decision as to keep or not but right now looks promising. Check Spotlight Catalogue (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?spotlight/) and Stratco Catalogue (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?stratco/). I did not get any marked reduction in FPS with my rig. Thanks for the heads up.

For ROF I used this settings (txt file) : https://hotfile.com/dl/181750222/0066cfc/SweetFX_settings_Jason_(1).zip.html

Not tested yet in FSX but its a ready file for the sim. Just put in main folder (overwright, oryginal package with all nessesery files: https://hotfile.com/dl/181750442/7ed504a/SweetFX_for_ROF.zip.html ).

Example from Falcon BMS (oryginal/sweetFX):

Going by the install instructions and starting P3D it immediately goes CTD from D3d9.dll
I'm no guru. Hoping for someone else to test in Prepar3D.

My WinZip app opened it just fine. 7.zip not hard to find if your app won't unzip it.

I am using SweetFX in FSX, its much more subtle than ENB (ENB tends to be very over saturated) and so far I have not had any of the many crashes ENB produced...the typical black screen. Oh and no performance hit here:wavey:

Sure, but its not "my" settings. I got them from another user who posted them over at the the Orbx forums. Remember to turn off AA in the FSX settings menu otherwise SweetFX might not work.

Hoping for a new version eventually as the previews that I've seen are gorgeous.

+1. Tweaking mods are a never ending loop once they begin, but I would be interested in testing.
I have the program "Shade". Is this not the same principal? Which is not P3D compliant as of yet.

When I downloaded with "Izarc", it automatically unzipped so I grouped all the files in a folder and planted it in FSX. Changed some settings from '0' to '1' but haven't been able to activate it in FSX yet. Neither the mentioned 'U' or 'scroll-lock' do anything. What am I not doing?

Hi Oldendirt,

You have to put all the files into the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" main folder (which means that all those files will get loose amongst the other files) and keep your fingers crossed. Keep a note of the files that you place there so you can remove them all if it doesn't work as planned...

Note: when all the files are in the main folder, try starting your FSX and if it crashes, you may go to "edit" (top left corner of your screen) and undo the last operation (copy/paste) which will remove all the files in one shot...

Good luck !

Also you need to unbind the keys used by SweetFX in FSX for it to work properly.

I tried the configurator, it still copies files to your FSX root directory.
I deleted the files manually after testing by comparing to my FSX backup on another drive.
Presumably the remove game option from configurator would do same, but didn't test that as I preferred the way FSX looked without SweetFX.
Also noticed with SweetFX a very small fps drop while panning around which coincided with a brief display twitch.

And don't forget if you have disabled AA and are using Montie's sweetfx_settings.txt from page 2 you have to turm SMAA_antialiasing on as he has it turned off and you will have lots of jagged lines on everything.

So in the file sweetfx_settings.txt change
#define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 0
to
#define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1

And in your Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder should be the SweetFX folder (that contains - presets and shaders folder)
And the following files:
d3d9.dll
d3d9.fx
dxgi.dll
dxgi.fx
injector.cfg
sweetfx readme.txt
sweetfx_preset.txt
sweetfx_settings.txt

Running it with no issues. I have Win 7 64bit also.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1) It's a mod that works with FSX because FSX is a 32 bit application
2) Your Windows 64 bit install shouldn't have any affect on it working since it's not working on windows, it's working on FSX.
3) unzip the entire package to a location of your choice - keeping the file structure intact -- then copy the contents of that location (not the containing folder, just the contents of the folder) to your main C:\...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, folder.

ex: Zipped File > Unzip > C:\...\Desktop\tempfolder >C:\...\tempfolder\Sweetfx(folder),files > (Copy everything inside the temp folder) and paste it into > C:\...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X main folder.

The mod will be automatically "ON". The default settings don't look too much different from default FSX. You have to set up your own edits. Hit the pause button while in FSX then un pause for the injector to replace with new edits on the fly. "Scroll Lock" key turns it "ON/OFF".

Thanks for all the help. I have installed all the downloaded files into my fsx main folder. I have unchecked Anti-aliasing but no luck. What happens is when I start fsx the main logo screen comes up and then goes away and then nothing.

I have all the listed files in my fsx folder and when I remove the d3d9.dll, d3d9.fx, dxgi.dll, dxgi.fx files fsx loads, when I put them back it does not. I will keep trying and thanks again for all the advice and help.

Hello,

i like SweetFX with FSX and i use it with Bloom, HDR and vibrance enabled at standart settings. But when i fly any Jet, like the IRIS F-14 Tomcat, against the sun or at snow covered terrain on which the sun shines - the HUD-Symbols are to much "outshined"(sorry, i don't really know the right words to tell this on english). You could not see anything of the Symbols - this must cause the Bloom and HDR settings does someone have tweeked sweetfx settings wich are better to use with Jets and their HUDs?

Regards Sepp

P.S.: Sorry for my english...

I use it and love it to shreds, but I couldn't get it to work with its own anti analising setting so I just ran nvida to overwrite all anti analising and controlled it with that and it still seems to work. Im an anti analising freak and cant stand when a straight edge looks like a flight of stairs :icon_lol:

I also missed this thread completely first time around and was absolutely delighted to come across it yesterday! I prefer to fly DX10 and I'm over the moon that SweetFX works with it! I also fly in 3D with nVidia 3D vision and it works with that too!

For other DX10 and SweetFX users... can you recommend settings (in FSX itself, in nVidia Settings and in SweetFX) to get the best Anti-Aliasing (AA)... or at least the same kind of level AA one would enjoy in DX9?

May thanks

Andy

There is a link to predefined FSX profiles people have posted at the SweetFX download site. I used one that someone posted for use with REX and it worked perfect. I probably will play around with it later but for now I'm more then happy.

There is a GUI version of Sweetfx a available which negates your having to edit the text files by hand. Do a search here at SOH for SWEETFX. There's a whole thread already. I posted about it a few Months ago. Makes life much easier and faster to do on the fly settings adjustments. You can install and remove it from your directory on the fly as well if you wish to switch between this and say ENBSERIES.
