Planning another distance flight from Ireland to Alaska in DC-3s. Right now we've got a start point of EIMN. Across, Europe, Russia, the Bering Sea, and stop somewhere near the Canadian Border. Unless we decide to keep hauling back to Ireland (Guiness is good for you ;) )

Not sure when we'll start, but probably soon.

EDIT: I'll be prestaging my "Merc Air" Gooney Bird to EIMN from EGRD probably tonite if I don't fly a practice race leg.

Hi Willy,

Are you using the default DC3, MAAM's DC3 or another one?

Default or MAAMs, don't make much difference. Especially if you're like me and use Farmboy's flight model for the default.

I tend to prefer default as the MAAM is a bit rough on my framerates.

Back from my trip with ma Dad, missed you guys back into England yesterday. Count me in on this one too, I'll be checking back here frequently to see when we'll start.

Thanks All :)

Anyone particular about a start date on this one? Or are we waiting to finish the RTW practice first?

I could start anytime Willy. Not tonight though, no playing on the computer tonight! If we wait until this practice is over, that's cool with me too.

I would think after the practice has run it's course would be a good time to fire up the Goonies but I am a part-time cornut these days so I will jump in when I can. Sounds like fun.

Roger on the no flying tonite. I might not get much in anyway for the next several days. My father in law finally decided that his rotten outside deck needs replacing and as I've walked on it a couple of times, he's decided that I should help. :icon_eek:

And after that we're to use the old wood to make him a pier onto his catfish pond

Looking at the first leg being EIMN to EGNS (Isle of Man) and possibly a quick retakeoff to EGPF (Glasgow, Scotland). After that probably up north towards the Shetlands and on to Norway.

I've got an urge to fly over some of the Scottish Lochs that I used to go hang around. ;)

I'll probably start on this one as soon as I can get a volunteer to fly along. Or not ;). But tonite is looking good for a start on it. I'm already on "cold-iron" standby at EIMN at the pub.

BTW, this flight is not inclusive to DC-3s, but should you have a B247, S-43 or similar type, period & speed aircraft, feel free to join us online at NetWings. Even if you don't feel up to the whole flight, it's cool. Just hop in when you can. Keep in mind that I'm fully expecting to have to do some landings in Eastern Russia where there aren't any airfields and just save the flight where it's at to continue the next night.

I'll be flying this default DC-3 in the MercAir Whitetop paint with Farmboy's flight model.

Hi Willy,

Pick a time...what's your fancy? (It will be dark in any case)

Willy-

I found a series of nice paints by Ed Knapp over at the big sites. Maybe this is the R4D version you were talking about:

I like the high-viz paint scheme on the wings after flying it around some.

Nice, Moses. Pretty respectable suit of clothes...

And Willy, its cold and dark here in Western Ireland's EIMN. Have you, perchance, met a young colleen at the pub?
