View Full Version : AI carrier cfg modifications

I have been playing around with the AI carriers cfg file to incorporate both of Thrawn's carriers, plus the team DSB Enterprise. Modifications are below - you can copy them into your config file for AI carriers (by Lamont Clark). A few screenshots to come once I resize them as well.
I have three adjustments:
1. RIMPAC Carriers Photo formation (all ships nice and tight)
2. RIMPAC Carrier Operations formation (all ships spread out to enable reasonable flight operations from at least one)
3. Ike UNREP with Patuxent - but you can land aboard (no cargo in LA (Landing Area)). This is a normal check that the ship and airwing need to go through prior to deployment, called "flight alongside" operations.

The last two digits are cartesian coordinates referenced from center of formation (0, 0) being center. (X, Y order)

The formations will be numbered in sequence based on the cfg file (next in sequence)

Hope you enjoy
Deke (Navy 81)

Thanks for the HU. The layout per your scripts in AI Carriers looks great. Love those multi-carrier effects.

Reminds me of some of my Former West-Pac and East Med cruises of long ago.

Navy81,
Went and did color correction on your pics. Converted from bmp to jpg (reducing size from 1 mb to 50 kb). Hope you don't mind.

You're welcome. Using IrFanview it took me all of 2 minutes, so no problemo. Cheers.

Deke,
Well you right click on link, then click 'Save Link As' (uses original name) so you can pick where to save pic. I just saved them to 'My Documents' main folder, and opened them in IrFanview from there (by right click+open with+always use.. IrFanview).

When you have pic open in IrFanview you use left mouse+drag to pick area you want to keep (ie: gets rid of red text on edges). When you drag from Top-Left to Lower-Right (ie: made a square (dimensions don't matter)) you look on top menu and click on 'Copy' icon (this copys the area you outlined to clipboard (automatic/temp storage). Then you press 'D' key (to clear 'D'isplay), and then click 'Paste' (to paste back the area you picked from the clipboard).

Then you resize to size you want. For uploads keep the size to UNDER 800x. 1096x is ridiculously large and might need scroll (unpleasant).

You then go to 'Image/Color Correction' and move the 'GAMA' slider (slider on right half under preview pics) to brighten pic up. You can play with 'Contrast' (your pics did not NEED this at all (hehe)), or th 'Saturation' (your pics did not need this as the sun was not 'bright'-thus no 'color' to 'saturate'-they are mostly gray). You can then go 'Image' menu again and click on 'Sharpen' if you wish. You're done

You then go 'File/Save As' and browse to 'My Documents' (or other folder you created?), enter name for pic, choose 'jpg' ('Save As Type' dropdown), then click 'Save'. Your Bmp is now reduced from 1 Mb to 50 kb or so at same time as save (no other action needed for compression). That's it. This routine is what I use to make those 'thumbnail' jpg's (using dimensions of 128 x xxx). Hope this is clear enough and if you have any questions fire away. Cheers.
