Just spotted the same vid on another forum. Cool...but stupid. If the R22 had lost it's engine power when he was over the trees he'd be in deep doo doo.:icon_lol:

Well, I understand the sentiment.
I admit I questioned the judgement too.

But one can argue a helicopter is designed to hover, after all.
Whether it be over a landing pad for a landing or taking off, rescue at sea over a sinking ship, or plucking an RC plane out of a tree top.
Statistically, power loss is usually a very low factor for causes of helicopter accidents.

Would I fly/learn from this IP?
Probably not, I know I'm a "by the book" kinda guy.
And I don't tolerate 'second hand smoke' all that well anymore. :icon_lol:
