View Full Version : working ejection seats?

I've spent a good chunk of the evening crashing, er, I mean landing, my beloved Supermarine Scimitar. From what understand, a good number of real world pilots did the same in that particular aircraft with consequences far more serious than restarting a flight.

This has called up a question in my hazy mind. Are there any FSX aircraft with working ejection seats out there? Freeware would be choice, but for this I would pry open the wallet...

Any direction would be appreciated!

Happy Flying and Happy New Year,
MT

The VRS Superbug has an ejection seat, along with the A2A HE-219 Uhu. I am not sure of any FSX ones, and these are both FS9 aircraft.

By chance do you recall which model, Panther? Their Scimitar doesn't as far as I can tell. Well, at least when I click around what looks to be the ejection handle there's no sudden egress...

I saw on an aviation documentary last night the Kamov Black Shark has an ejection seat - apparently the rotors blow off and then out comes the pilot (hopefully in that sequence). Now that would be a neat trick for FSX.

Cheers,

Aerosoft's Falcon for FS9 did, as did the Cloud9 MB339 (and possibly the Phantom?) - again both FS9. I've never met an Alpha model, or an FSX one, yet with a working bang seat.

Don't know to be honest - however, Dano said that one model had it but since it went by unoticed, they weren't going to do anymore

I could swear I'd seen the occasional screenshot of an F-86 ejection on the old AS forums. I just assumed it was some kind of user mod or photo editing. Perhaps the F-86 was the model in question?

I gave the Alpha Sabre a shot with an engine fire over Friday Harbour but ended up making an emergency landing with lots of pretty sparks. No ejection though. I tried all of the black and yellow ejection lever looking bits with no luck. I'll have another go tomorrow when hopefully I am more awake.

I did run across a blog with a blurb noting Bear Studios MiG-15 has an ejection seat. Avsim gave it an okay review so maybe I'll have a go absent a freeware alternative.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular product good bad or indifferent? I don't want to start a tizzy so if that question isn't appropriate at the moment I apologize in advance.

I'm perfectly happy crashing, er, 'landing' Alpha's Scimitar on Ark Royal and seeing as I've made it this far without ejecting in FSX I can always reinstall CFS2 or IL2 if I really need a bailout fix...

Happy Flying,
MT

The Aerosim F-4 Phantom had one, complete with animation. Phil later said it was a waste of time cause it didn't sell anymore copies.

I liked it. :costumes:

Afaik ejection seats are available on the freeware Mirage 2000 that's available at Avsim..........FS9 only though.

Has Aerosoft ever had an Falcon (F-16 Fighting Falcon) for FS9 ? Or have I missed something and you're talking about another Falcon (in that case...:kilroy:)

Now that you mention this, I *think* it was the F-86.
Unfortunately, I don't have a working PC to do some testing....:frown:

The A2A/Shockwave He 219 Uhu nightfighter has one, IIRC. Been around for a while, too.

The Combat Planes Eurofighter Typhoon for FSX has an ejection seat. After you punch-out, you have to click on the overhead yellow and black pull cord to deploy the chute. If you don't, you and the seat go into the ground. Once the chute has been deployed, you can steer it around.

Too bad that Eurofighter isn't better quality...I'd love to see a decent Rafale, Eurofighter, and Gripen...

But I can't recall any example of a fighter jet for FSX with working ejection seats so far. I actually hadn't any idea it was possible within MSFS to model such things :isadizzy:...it's the first time I actually have read about it.

It's no Aerosoft F-16, that's for sure. However, it needs to be judged on the full package.

1) It comes with about 15 different paint jobs for various Air Forces. The modelling is decent with good fps, and it looks good.

2) It comes with five different Air Base sceneries

3) It comes with numerous missions.

4) It comes with both single seat and two seat versions, so you can fly it from the front seat or the back seat.

5) It has a great AI model to fill your ramp up, with minimal fps hit.

6) You can eject when the going gets tough.

7) The price ain't bad.

This picture is without the DX10 preview active.

Thanks everyone for your replies. An ejection seat ob the up-and-coming Mirage is a major selling point for me though I should confess I've been saving my rupees for it since it was anounced.

I do see though there's been a price drop on the Eurofighter Typhoon over at FS Pilot Shop. Would any of you be willing to let me know if the v1.03 and v1.04 patches have helped with FPS? My trusty Nvidia 7950GX2 with 1GB onboard memory and Vista Home Premium with 4GB and conroe dual core 6600 at 240GHz usually is pretty compentent for me but t reallly bites to buy bells and whistles that don't.

Some goes for Bear Studios Mig-15 but the reviews don't spell out "portover' or 'native FSX' clearly enough (read: with sublety akin to a brick to the forehead) that an illiteratus like myself can understand.

All the best,
MT
