Anyone have the FSX version of the SF.260?

I'm looking at what impact it has on frame rates compared to say... Stock mooney or maybe something from Caranado.

As Panther said, its negligible. I lost maybe 1-2 FPS at KEDW, but no more. Flight is still fine and fluid.

(avg. 30FPS worldwide with the Marchetti, 8800GT and Pentium 4 3.2GHz)

its a great plane with an extremely realistic flight model on top of its low impact / high fidelity 3d detail...

Excellent on framerates; as good as most defaults, better than some. My all-around favorite: good for VFR, good for IFR.

I have it, I love it! And apart from a small trexture change to the instrument panel, all the FS9 paints can be converted to dds with no major problem - you just have to edit over the new instrument panel bits as the FSX version has the choice of both left and right seat panel layouts so there's now two panels for the "exterior" view where there was onlya one for the FS9 version.

Really a great airplane and framerate is excellent...

I've not noticed a framerate impact in the least, and I still think it has the most pleasing flight model of any add-on available. Until the RealAir Spitfire came out this was my favorite aircraft.

Personally I can't fly it anymore without the most excellent white panel mod, which adds not only a white panel in place of the gray one, but these very sweet yet subtle static shadows to the left seater, and there's a no shadow version to be used with the right seater.

Search avsim for "SF-260 Panel" to locate it.

The white panel can be found here:

I'm also looking for the nice black panel that was made for the FS9 version and the FSX version too, it seems to have vanished from Avsim.

Thanks guys, Downloaded it and I'll be installing it later.

When I was still working at the airport, we had one come into the shop for some avionics upgrades. It's a really small airplane in person. you wear it more than sit in it. much like a sportscar.

As for the upgrade, shop installed a Sandel Electronic HSI. Or how to spend thirty grand in a hurry when you count installation.

My humble opinion is that the SF-260 is a 'must have', a little masterpiece with no FPS impact at all.

Solar Eagle,

I notice in your screenshot the aircraft textures are somewhat blurry compared to the background.
I have the same problem with a number of aircraft, including the FSX default birds. Other aircraft are displayed just fine.

Anyone have an idea why, and how it is solved?

I really like it also. A great little airplane. Aerobatic and fast enough for GA cross-country. You can practice old time GA navigation with it. Using, charts, ADF and VORs.

It's a must have........one of the few FSX aircraft that you can perform realistic spins in. :)

These textures have mip maps, there is a good explanation here for FS2004 but the same applies to FSX (and many other computer games): http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/flight-simulator-tutorials/507-removing-mip-maps-skins-fs2004.html

I think it just looks that way, perhaps that's a symptom of downsizing the image, as the aircrafts textures were as sharp as usual when I took the shot, but make sure your global texture resolution is at full right, otherwise your aircraft textures are forced to load in 512 resolution instead of 1024. If its already full right try lowering it, save the settings, then put it full right and save again.

Ooohhh - pound/Euro parity! UK for the Euro! :icon_lol: And about time too! :running: (I am expat in Germany and I think the Euro is more useful than not) Oh, and if we'd gone Euro years ago - as we should have - this problem would not have existed today. Bloody short sighted politicians. Europe is the way for the UK, not USA. (duck and run...)

One real bonus is the price of software from the UK will be more attractive to Euro buyers - even with overseas P&P
