Dang, those photos bring back memories of fire fighting for my summer job when I was in college after VN. A good fire season and the attendant overtime made for some pretty good pay. I ended up a Helitack forman with the Bureau of Land Management my last year. My team used the Bell Jet Ranger for our aerial insertions and exfiltrations although at one point we had a Bell Huey (212). We could tripple our load over the Jet Ranger with the Huey and used it for the big fires and the Jet Ranger for the spot fires from lighting strikes or orther causes. The Huey could also double as a water drop helo when no firefighters were on board it.

Looks like the uniforms haven't changed much in all these years. Can't argue with success I guess. Looks like a couple of those firefighters are wearing Whites' (out of Spokane, WA) "Smokejumper" boots. That was my favorite boot for backcountry firefighting in Utah and Western Colorado.
