Unlike the Northern Hemisphere Australia welcomes Spring on the 1st of September.

Today to see if I could find any indications of Spring I took a tour around my local area. There are still some more blossoms to photograph but I have noticed that the Apple and Cherry blossoms are starting to appear as well as the Magnolias are well and truly budding. If it is not too windy tomorrow I will be out and about again. In the meantime here are a couple of teasers.

1. Golden Wattle.

2. A small wattle bush. The scary thing with this photo is the amound to dry fuel on the ground. Looks like this fire season is going to be very busy for me.

3. A yellow bottle brush.

As I get more photos I will post them here.

Oh I like the two close up pictures, Pat. Good DOF control. The background is nicely blurred in both of them.

I see why the "Bottle Brush" plant is called that. :applause:

I've never seen pictures of the 'Bottle Brush' plant before but it has some interesting features. It appears to have beads of liquid on the ends of the stamens. Are those beads of nectar to attract insects for pollination, beads of 'glue' to capture insects (like a sundew plant) or simply beads of early morning dew?

They are not beads of liquid Larry. They are solid (I actually checked them). It appears they become a little transparent at the end. There is also a red version that blooms a little later. The yellow plant is more of a bush but the red flower is more of a tree.

Great pix Pat. And thankfully, after a long, hot Summer, we are one month away from Autumn.
