This guy's story reminds me of a vet we had on the forum a little while back. He was a tail gunner on a Lanc and mentioned being credited with downing a 262 on a daylight mission late in the war, though he thought one of the escort fighters probably got it instead. I wonder if this is the same guy?

...and another one passes. We're lucky that a lot of these folks memories have been put down on film/book/audio over the last years, it won't be long before ww2 fades from living memory and into history.

That was Grandguy, he lived in Canada iirc and passed away a couple of years ago.

I sometimes visit a former tail gunner in my work: I asked him once how many ops he had done. Twenty seven, he said, then the war ended. I'll bet you were glad, I said. YES I WAS, he answered.
