The package went out to the vendors this evening. SimMarket will most likely pick it up first and it will be up tomorrow. The others PC Aviator, FlightSim Pilots Shop and Flight 1 in due course. It will be up on our web page Friday evening. Here's another video of the model done by the same fellow that did the piece for the Vertigo Stearman.

I wish you all the best successes with this aircraft. The Ryan ST is simply one of the most beautiful aircraft ever developed in my mind, and hold a true place in my heart. I will be picking up my copy when my budget allows and look forward to giving her a spin. The PT-22 was fantastic, and this looks to far exceed that in detail. Congratulations!

A paint kit was not included. We'd have to do one for each model as the textures apply slightly differently. That said the bump map is the same

I'll see what can be done I must say that is one great job and hard to believe no kit was involved. Simply beautiful!

Paul,
a big ask:
Would you please rename the file "STM_floats.Spec" in "STM_floats.dds".
So it is a "SPEC" file and I can not edit and save.
Thank you.

I got this plane yesterday.

I have it installed and was testing it out,in my sim.

I am having some issues with the float planes.

(Problem 1)I'm unable to steer it in the water.I don't use rudder pedals,and I always fly with auto rudder.I looked at the contact points in the acft.cfg.I'm not sure which contact point value I need the change.The value is in either line 1 or line 2 of the contact points.The current values are all zero's.

Some of my other freeware float planes.I use a contact point value of .180.This way I can steer the plane in water with just my yoke etc.

(Problem 2).When I land the float plane on water.It doesn't seem to settle down on the water,as like other float planes?..As soon as it hits the water,the plane jumps up in the air.My landing speed is where it should be etc.The water rudder is down.

(Problem 3).One of the three models,and I'm not sure which one,until I go check again.When I'm in a cold cockpit.I'm unable to get the engine to start.All switches are where they should be and the engine is primed,as required.The keyboard command Ctrl+E should start the engine by default.it doesn't with this Ryan?.I'm unable to get the nav lights to come on as well.The battery switch is on etc.

Thanks for any feedback

I wonder if your default flight uses a default aircraft, that is often the issue with start up procedures?
Regarding float plane steering, I wonder if auto-rudder allows steering with water rudders?

I don't use default flights.I use my own flight plans.I only fly in the ORBX/OZx and RTMM scenery areas.I have all there products installed.My other freeware float planes do steer with auto-rudder on.If I leave the planes water rudders up.It won't steer,weather I have auto-rudder on.

One thing I did try was to put one of my freeware float planes in the water.Than I change acft.,to the Ryan float.The problem still remains with steering.I know the problem is with the contact points in the acft.cfg.I just don't know which row has contact point I need to change.The value I use is .180?.

Thankd for your input Roger

My FsX launch flight uses the Maule, which as a default aircraft gives me no issues with start up or water rudder etc. The fact that I never fly this flight is irrelevant, it means that FsX is set up to accept a non-default aircraft without issues.

To Grayrider: If I understand your problem correctly, I don't think it's the contact points. On this particular plane, at least on my install, the autorudder doesn't work while the plane is on the ground or on the water. You can see this if you look at the rudder and/or water rudders while on ground or water, and just move the joystick alone; nothing happens even with autorudder on.

In order to get the rudder and water rudders to work, you need to use dedicated rudder controls, be it buttons on the keyboard, twistgrip on your joystick, proper rudder pedals, or like I use, one of the paddles on the game box controller I'm using in lieu of a joystick at the present time.

Hope that helps.

You are correct with the water rudders. I experimented with it yesterday and added the values to assign a turn radius to the contact points for the rudders (see below) in bold
[contact_points]
point.0=4.000, 5.55, -3.525, -5.80, 1068, 0.000, 0.00, 0.00, 0.25, 2.00, 0.70, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.0
point.1=4.000, 5.55, 3.525, -5.80, 1068, 0.000, 0.00, 0.00, 0.25, 2.00, 0.70, 0.000, 0.000, 1.000, 0.000, 0.0 //7.590, 3.525, -5.800
point.2=4.000, -8.400, -3.600, -3.90, 1068, 0.000, 0.00, 0.00, 0.25, 2.00, 0.70, 0.000, 0.000, 2.000, 0.000, 0.0 //aft lt
point.3=4.000, -8.400, 3.600, -3.90, 1068, 0.000, 0.00, 0.00, 0.25, 2.00, 0.70, 0.000, 0.000, 3.000, 0.000, 0.0 //aft rt
point.4=5.000, -8.650, -3.525, -3.461, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 180.00, 0.00, 0.00, 1.500, 1.500, 0 //left water rudder
point.5=5.000, -8.650, 3.525, -3.461, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 180.00, 0.00, 0.00, 1.500, 1.500, 0 //right water rudder

I activated auto rudder and there was no difference. Then I assigned a keyboard command to the rudder for right and left and it worked fine. My suggestion is use the keyboard for water taxi and you'll be all set.

Best
Paul
