Since we have clean forum right now I think I have to post at least one picture of my PZL-130 Orlik ;)

I'm working on the VC textures.

Marlin - no, not yet. I have rudimentary flight model, but gauges and switches doesn't work yet.

deimos256 - sign up on Avsim - you'll need an account over there to download this plane 'when it's done'. :)

That looks great Mike!! :ernae: I've been following your WIP thread at Freeflight Design forums. How's performance so far.....? ..... and also dare I ask....when? :icon_lol: I'm looking forward to it anyway....keep up the good work.

Thanks :)

Rob - right now performance is as good as default planes without glass cockpit - Maule or Baron, and better than F/A-18 or Agusta-Westland. For 2048x2048 textures version I recommend at least 512MB video card though.

I'm going to make installer with two textures resolutions - 2048x2048 and 1024x1024.

I was hoping to release this plane at the and of the year, but it probably will be delayed.

There is a progress, I've been working on Orlik lately. I have few new manuals for avionics, radiostack. Unfortunately I'm working on xml code and I can't show it on the screenshots ;) I'm also re-working normal and specular maps to make them look more real. It won't be soon, but project is certainly not abandoned. I can't wait to make a video and show you all how the switches work...

To give credit where it's clearly due:

I can't stand cartoony dash textures. You've nailed the right look!! I absolutely love that baked-on look that you've got going on. :salute:

May 23rd, 2010, 03:31
Thanks. Lighting in current-gen game engines is to weak to produce nice soft lighting. That's why shading added to color texture is essential. This is the same reason why I don't like textures based straight on photos. Phototexture just doesn't work with specular, normalmaps, reflections and dynamic light. It may look good on screenshots, but not in movement.

Not only is the systems modeling great, but I actually love the way you do your textures, there excellent, yet you retain great framerates even on lower spec systems, it really reminds me of Lotus who's style of ... can't think of the words but developing, crafting maybe, aircraft are very similar! Really one of my most eagerly awaited releases, the PZL-130 Orlik is just a stunning little trainer and I can't wait to fly her!

I have this as my desktop and still get exited evertime I look at it!

Lovely stuff. Not a fan of messing around with all the buttons and exploring the systems myself, but I can still appreciate that a lot of time and effort has gone into this, and can tell it's going to be a top quality addon.

The overall appearance is exceptionally good anyway, so you've catered for my tastes already!

Sorry guys. I've just lost my job today, I'll probably have to relocate to another place few hundreds kilometers from where I live, where I won't have my development computer until I find a job and new home again. Orlik is on hold until then. It will be few months, maybe a half of year when I'll be able to work on it again.

I completely understand that as well, Empeck.
Lost my job a year ago this month.
"Times are tough"... blah blah blah...
Went almost 10 months unemployed.
Good jobs are tough to get in this town right now.

Thankfully I'm at least part time now with a really great company.
And I'll have opportunities with them, might need to move as well too.
Hold on, knowing that a great community of folks here at the SOH have you in their thoughts and prayers. :salute:
