I downloaded the above mentioned campaign and started with the spitfire campaign, the first flight is B24 bomber escort. I got airborne and after warping I saw a bunch of red dots in front of me, getting closer I saw that it was B24's and at a distance of appr. 600 feets, they opened fire at me . I got angry and shot one of them down and left the escort and some of the other wingmen in my flight was shot down by the B24's I engaged the german fighters and shot 2 down and returned to Biggin Hill and recieved a reward despite my friendly fire causing a kill of a B24 ???????????????? What the H... is wrong ? any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

If you've installed all the components called for in the readme, then there's possibly a discrepancy in your country.cfg that has the sim confusing the Spitfire's allegiance. Its reading the MISC section in the Spit's DP as a German aircraft, causing the allied bombers (who's allegiance is set as country.7 - USAAF) to see your Spit as an enemy. Rami alluded to this problem in the campaign readme and included a solution. Have you read this part of the readme?

Misc

1) You’ll need Ajax’s British UIRES screens (Kit_RAF.zip)
Location: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/downloads/download.php?lloc=downloads&FileID=8429

2) And, these British sounds which don’t have to be activated through mission builder
Location: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=fvb_brit_radio_calls.zip

3) You can download and install these German Radio calls, which do not have to be activated through Mission Builder: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=fvb_german_radio_calls.zip

4) You will need the UIRES screens for Germany (Luftwaffe_ETO_screens_44_45.zip)
Location: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/downloads/download.php?lloc=downloads&FileID=10624

Note: For some reason Ajax gave the German UIRES screens the listing of:

[country.1]
name=Germany (44-45)
short_name=USA
nationality=German (44-45)
heading=bearing

To make it work properly, you should change it to this:

[country.2]
name=Germany (44-45)
short_name=GER
nationality=German (44-45)
heading=bearing

By changing the “USA” to “GER”, it will also enable the sound files you just downloaded.

After filling in USAAF as country no. 7. everything was ok. By the way, it was never mentioned that USAAF war a part of the game.

Yeah i know, its not mentioned in the readme, but over the past few years us vets around here have come to a sort of "silent" concord with Rami and other more recent mission builders that any American Army Air Force nationality in an ETO (or PTO) campaign should have its own setup under USAAF - country.7. This allows the usage of UIRES medals, ranks and background screens exclusive to the USAAF without interfering with the default US Navy stuff. That's just how we roll these days and i personally prefer this separation from the default USA - country.3 in my ETO/MTO installs. I can still keep the USA nationality as a bucket for all things pertaining to the US Navy in the Atlantic, Euro and Med theaters.

At any rate i'm glad you got it sorted...

Killer Svend,

Yes, you're right, it was not there any it should have been. Every now and then, something like that "slips through the wickets." I forgot it because the campaign only has flyable missions on the British and German sides. The missions that involve escorting American bombers with a Spitfire would cause those problems with the country.cfg in the stock configuration.

It was a mistake on my part, I missed it. But every so often, something like that happens. No one's perfect. :mixedsmi:

Bearcat, thanks for covering me.
