Hey all,

Playing around this evening in the Avelina. I was taking snapshots and thought I would post it. Some really cool views up there at high altitude.

Aircraft is the Avelina, futuristic hybrid powered electric plane. Took off from an Island off the coast of SoCal, climbed to FL 20,000 feet at 2500 FPM (no passengers or luggage). Flew to Catalina Island and at about 10 miles out, did a rapid desent down to KAVX and touched down. 22 Knot cross wind. ORBX weather theme and Prepar3D flight training simulator. Good fun!

Something I learned from Willy. Pull up, power down, bring the speed way down, then drop flaps and gear and start a rapid descent. Works great!

Nice images!
Your virtual pilot will surely have cleared eustachian tubes after these changes in altitude :-)

Cheers,
Mark

lololol... I think so..!

Some good chewing gum for popping the ear pressure. The plane's cabin is pressurized for 9,000 feet altitude, which would help. I can imagine there would be some squeaks and groans from the pressure shell during the climb and drop.

Seems to me that rather than dropping the gear to avoid overspeed, the prop should be set for regenerative charging of the electrical system, while acting as the airbrake.

That would indeed by the way to go. But.... FSX couldnt do that. Man, how I wish I could have incorporated some of these things into the sim. I had hoped, when I went into that project, that it would be possible. niewwww........

Placing fuel back into the tank (voltage in this case) is only done in quantities of 50 or 100% at a time, not gradually. Also, you cannot slow down with the prop. Unless... I used the hidden spoiler trick. I didnt think of that.

hmmm.. food for thought on that... Arrigatto, Jetscreamsky.
