Hey all,

Ive been working on the updates for the new Tailwind. Alot of bits redone, new installer has Prepar3D in it for direct loading to P3D. I have added some interior and exterior plexi features per a request. They are quite a bit different from what they were.

I have also added quite a few new, pretty exciting camera views. I am thankful to have learned to program these better. So many things you can do with them.

Camera views include;
* 2D Panel
* Right seat, (instructor)
* Left panel main zoom
* Throttle and power, switches bank
* Rear cargo nook shot
* Belly cam between landing gear for taxing and landing shots
* Front quarter and cowling cam points
* New wing views that have better angles and field-of-view perspectives
* Rear tail shot (great for flying through valleys of low mountains)
* High tail for taxiing on the ground
* Front top down view at top of plane (just looks cool)

If you didnt know, this is a tri-pack, 3 planes in one. The early W-8 series Tailwind, the W-10 later model, different rudder, bigger engine, must faster, and the W-10 with tri-cycle landing gear. The W-8 has a very simple panel and optional wheel skirts on / off. Many planes!

I recieved permission from Robert (BannanaBob) Rivera to include his repaints in this package, so all his work on these are in here also.

This package is not yet updated for FS2004.... :(

One of my favorites, especially the trike model. I remember doing that black and white "Batman" scheme :)

Is the Flight1 installer already updated to 1.5?

I would like to download the V1.5 of the tailwind, except I have a problem. I am not sure which sim site I purchased it from? Wouldn't be a big deal except I buy from so many different vendors. Bill, If I give you my order number and purchase date, can you maybe help me out here? I just need to know which vendor the purchase was made with...

Thanks for the update, Bill!

I'm very glad I finally picked this one up, recently. Sitting in the cockpit, with the sound set, it feels like being in a street rod - I can picture John Milner (American Graffiti) hunched over, elbow resting on the window frame, cruising around. : )

Thats the feeling I got also in it. They must be a blast to fly, like a little T-bucket....

Hi, this is one of the paints I did back in 2009, still available at SOH-library, download here. (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=14562) :salute:

Hey all,

In my 'zest' to enhance the Tailwind package, I made a mistake on the Models, when compiling. The light switches were accidentally programmed with the Avelina sound effects. The rocker switches for the lights in the newest Tailwinds do not 'click' like they should.

I have created a fix, all the model files are replaced. You can do this manually or with the auto-update file.

Instructions are in the update pack. Super easy. Just replacing all of the MDL files in the 3 Tailwind folders.

If you 'like' the sound the rockers make presently, then disregard.

This is ONLY for FSX and Prepar3D versions. FS2004 is fine.

Mooneys are interesting aircraft. Very efficient designs.

Bill you might find this one interesting, the Mooney PFM...Mooney's experiment with Porsche.

PCAviator should have it up and running. Just let them know about the update request.

No matter how long you have had it, purchases are allowed for updates.

Thats the way I would want it.. So thats the way it is. :D

Can't say that I am. I flew Piglet's Mite in the past, but that's about it. I don't think I have ever touched FSX default one.:cool:

I saw the Porsche powered Mooney at Oshkosh way back when. IIRC, it was a very quiet aircraft, comparatively speaking.

I recieved a reply telling me to read the FAQs. I did, recontacted them that I had found my order in their old store, but have not recieved a reply back, yet. Also just asked them to give me a new link for the update. Usually I recieve new links from them within hours, this time, not so much. :mix-smi:

Bill, sent you my email and a copy of my original receipt.

Thanks very much. I have all of your fantastic models from way back to the Bugatti package and the Fairchilds, to the present, and I enjoy them all. :applause: Thank You.

Hey Don,

Link sent.

I think sometimes we have off days, we have to leave the office for a few hours. I have had to run family around town before, doctors appointments and things. Bare with us as well get things taken care of.

I know at PCA, they deal with a TREMENDOUS amount of work and order flow. Just keep reminding them if the schedule gets behind on your update.

Thanks, Bill. Downloading now.

I know about having to wait sometimes. That's not a problem. My job means I'm only here for an hour or so a day. It's the lack of response from a normally good company, after a couple queries days apart. I'm having problems with them on another unrelated problem, also. We'll get it figured out, eventually.

Thanks again
Don

I also received shipment notice of the updated CD version. This is the type of customer support that keeps me coming back to PC Aviator.
Thanks to all at PC A.

Its rare for a company to do CD's especially over Downloads. I think that is pretty cool.

Good for backups as well.

Mr. Bill,
I know itīs a bit late on this, but after i applied your patch above, some strange thing happened to the Tailwind as can be seen in the images below:

Before patch (Itīs ok):
68257

After patch (The cockpit is opaque and inside the VC itīs impossible to look outside):
68258
I made sure that i installed the correct version with the plane and the patch (FSX Version). I use fsx+accel with dx9 in a nvidia board.
Whatīs your recomendation? Redownload the full installer again?
Thanks for your help!

Lionheart
June 27th, 2012, 22:38
Thats very odd. Its almost like your computer isnt handling the shaders or textures the right way.

Are you by chance in DX10?

If your graphics card cannot handle the new plexi, then we need to get you back into the Build 1.4 version.

Thanks for your quick answer, mr. Bill :salute:
I must say that i corrected the issue just redownloading the full 1.5 installer from my web shop. Itīs ok now with the correct sound for the light button.
However, iīm curious and downloaded again the patch you provided above, installed and the issue came back. So, i think there is something odd with it. I donīt think itīs a video board issue, because itīs a nvidia gtx570 and everything else works ok, including the kodiak, dynamic, epic lt, ngx, etc. in dx9.

Anyway, the issue is resolved using just the redownloaded full installer. Thanks for your help!

Lionheart
June 28th, 2012, 09:31
Extremely odd....

I do remember catching the light sound bug and immediately fixed it on the installers. To fix yours, please redownload the installer.

But the plexi is an odd one. I do not know what to say.

So many computers and variations cause so many weird effects for people. For instance, on my Dynamic, some people cannot run it on DX10 mode as it has materials showing up with FS written on them, yet all the plane is in pure FSX format.

The plexi was massively redone on the tailwind. The effect was targeted to look slightly opaque, lots of reflection and also haze from Specular shine and a smudging (dirty zone) around the edges of the windows. The interior now features reflective (illusion) plexi. I wonder if this is playing a roll in your issue, the two versions of transparency overlapping each other.

Here are screenshots just taken of the W-10 and W-8 series.
