Description: This is a repaint (textures only) of the Donationware B-25J from FighterTown Design Group. You can get it here for a great price!! www.donationware.net Thank you to Gramps and his crew for providing us this awesome plane!! Thank you to the Sim-Outhouse for providing me with this great plane!! Thank you to Huub Vink and Ferror for all your help and info for this particular scheme. In June 1941 the Dutch government-in-exile in London ordered 162 Mitchell bombers to reinforce the Netherlands East Indies Air Force (NEIAF). Although these bombers arrived too late to play an important role in the Dutch East Indies, the Dutch used Mitchells both in Europe and in the Pacific. The Dutch 320 squadron continued the war as a part of the RAF from England and No. 18 squadron continued the war in the Pacific under command of the Royal Australian Air Force from Australia. The RAAF allowed the Dutch squadrons in the RAAF to use their own Dutch marking. After the war No. 18 squadron went back to the Dutch East Indies. There the Mitchells from No.18 squadron were used to fight against the Indonesian rebels who wanted independence. In December 1949 the independent Republic of Indonesia was declared and No. 18 Squadron was disbanded in June of 1950. The remaining B-25s were turned over to the new independent Indonesian air force. This particular B25J was a gift from the Indonesian Government to His Royal Highness Prince Bernard in 1971 and is on display in its original No. 18 Squadron colours in the Military Aviation Museum near Soesterberg AB in the Netherlands.
