Looks like the Alpha is not doing its job. Have you changed any of the textures for this object? I just checked all three (ABC) and they're fine even in MB. Does it do it with all of the Craters or just one of them?

It does it with all of them.I did try manipulating with dxtmp but same result. Is it only a texture file problem? is there is no solution? if so do you mind sending me a copy by usendit?

Hi Dog1,
I think, using Martin Wright's DXTbmp prog, open and save as dxt1 with alpha bmps (second type of dxt1 in the save as choice list). Back them/it up first before doing. This will allow the alpha channel to be used.
If not you will have to create an alpha of the surround (pure green or black) of the actual bomb crater and then save with an alpha.

Do you have your CFS2 CAB files save on your HD? That would be the quickest way to get them restored.

It may be because you are trying to put craters on a runway tex. Do the craters act like this on a normal land tex tile?

Don't forget that's what things look like being placed in making a mission. Have you tried just flying about and bombing in QC, then taking a look at the crater made. I think you'll find it's ok in the sim.

not beeing a graphics expert i can only deduct that what i see is exactly what i am not supposed to see which is the base of the object layout on which it sits.it seems to me that its displaying exactly the opposite of what it should, but why is a mistery to me and why only this object out of tons that i have?

Attach the texture giving you trouble, and we can test it on our computers for you. We can then see if it is the texture or your computer causing the trouble.

I did a quick check of my crater textures and all was fine, both on the runway and off. Here are both the 2,000 pound (left side) and the 1,000 pound (right side) craters on one of MR's airfields. They are the stock MS textures with no modification.

I have seen this problem before.

I think it happens when you try to place that object as inf. using mission builder.

Dog,

It is working well in my computer. In the screen shot below, the scenery was all the same as the previous screen shot except for your texture and of course the aeroplane. The craters were placed on Maskrider's airfield via the MB. Sometime they will flicker, but if you use 16 bit display and not the 32 bit option, it will often reduce or eliminate the flicker.

Just something I thought about. Have you tried to use them on a stock field? Could it be the location you're using them in?

I always had the same problem but when I started to use the CFS2 GSL program for some reason it corrected itself.I can now put in bomb craters and they look fine.I still haven`t figured out what happened.:isadizzy:

Bob,

I need to get one of those self-correcting CFS 2 sims! That would really save all of us some aggravation.:banghead:

I don`t know what caused the difference but it did.I tried it again just to see and with mine if i make it part of the scenery it corrects the problem.:isadizzy:
