Moderator: Please close or delete this thread if I'm violating any rules . It seems UTX is a forbidden subject at the SimForums/UTX section as I noticed a thread (Prepar3D) was closed there today . I may wait until the ORBX Tool comes out just in case I screw up my FSX install.
I've got 98% of my AC installed along with most of my scenery as well . My question is do I point the Flight1 registry tool to the Prepar3D folder\prepar3d.exe then attempt to run the UTX(1.2B installer which I think is the lastest) then run each of the updates ? I think the updates run all the way to 1.5 now . I've read you then have to manually add UTX to the dll. I assume this is the terrain.dll or do I add it to the terrain.cfg? I've already used the Flight1 FSXXL tool to edit dll files in FSX but not sure if it would work in Prepar3D , I assume so . I was successful in FSX .

Now that I've read over this long winded thread which probably doesn't make a lot of sense to most(especially me:icon_lol:) I may say the heck with it cause it appears in may be a big P.I.A.:isadizzy:

Hey Rich,

UTX hasnt said anything.

I thought that the Flight1 registry tool only repaired the actual registry for FSX. Some installers would change it, and this fixes it, as far as I know. I havent heard of anyone using it otherwise.

Bill , here is where I got the info from : http://forum.avsim.net/topic/367473-installing-fsx-addons-fool-proof-guide/ . From what I can understand the tool just fools the installer and places the files into the Prepar3D folder(after you point it there) . When you read farther down the thread it also changes the path to Prepar3D in the fsx xml if you also have FSX residing on the same PC .

Believe me , this is only my guess . The only place I found UTX entries(in FSX) was in the terrain.cfg(terrain.dll) and of coarse the scenery library after UTX got added but I could be totally wrong here . An installer(for UTX) should would be nice , wouldn't it ? When I installed FSDT's Honolulu and Hawaiian I and II after they provided an installer for Prepar3D I was up and running in Prepar3D in a matter of minutes without problems . I think things will catch up eventually as Prepar3D evolves and gets better known .

Also on Prepar3D's site at the bottom of the page in the Trouble shooting section:

Use this FSX Registry Utility (http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php) its better than the Flight1 tool.
