I see that the P3D team are working on incorporating real world weather in future, but can you folks recommend an addon that works well with P3D in the meantime? Freeware would be great, but I don't mind throwing a few $ for a prog. that does the business!

Thanks,

Dave.

Hey Dave,

You might paruse through the Weather forum at P3D. There are several weather programs that people have made to work in P3D.

I had heard that Active Sky X was working on FSX planes ported over to P3D that had the Active Sky still in their panel folders. The system reset the weather in P3D. Now, I dont know how they did this, but that was the word on a forum at P3D. (I tried to find it, but didnt).

I can confirm that Active Sky works.

You don't need to do anything special to make it work either, just start Active Sky then Start P3d and it will inject the weather the same as it does in FSX.

You would have to manually add the gauge to planes if you want it but its not necessary for AS to work.

EDIT: Oh BTW I don't know if the texture swapper thingie works though as I don't use it.
I just use it to generate the weather using whatever textures are already loaded in FSX or P3D.

Thanks Bill & Beans,

Active Sky X it is then :salute: I've not invested in it for FSX, but heard it's one of the best.

Cheers :icon29:

I probably should have mentioned that I'm using Active Sky Evolution.

I just looked on there site and saw they now do Active Sky 2012. I don't know if that work too, I didn't even know it existed until just now.

I use ASv6 and that works, it runs continuously, so I cannot say whether or not it depends on FS9 or FSX being run prior to P3D as some have stated elsewhere. But As an oldie AS6 works fine....

I've gone ahead and got Active Sky Evolution - appears to work very nicely with P3D :jump:

Thanks again,

Dave :salute:

I am pleased to report back that by using Dangerous Beans' simple methodology, Active Sky 2012 works beautifully also.

Thanks Nio for the heads up and feed back.

I had it installed on my old OS load, I need to redownload and get it active again, pun intended.

Bill, you must.

My test flight was from Biggin Hill yesterday evening. Our real weather was heavy rain and gusting winds 20 knots *. Active Sky 2012 replicated it bang on. I was in the default Mooney. It was pretty rough out there.

Do get it installed as soon as you can.

I took a quick flight from Northolt EGWU to London City EGLC in the Realair Scout yesterday evening.
Lots of fun, took off and landed pretty much sideways, nearly got flipped over by gusts a couple of times on route :D
