RJ,

Check in the Warbirds library, the German Aircraft section. We uploaded them to the new library a while back.

Do you want the newest (2012) version? I can send it to you...it's just waiting on St. Nazaire.

Thanks, I will take a look.

The newest version of what. I will wait for St. Nazaire. I am finding it quite hard what to do exactly once I have downloaded the files, I think I am going to have more aircraft than I realy need, and have a few weps missing. Your install instructions are very good.

I will need to ask more questions latter about the ETO install and Battle of Europe install.

Thanks,

Robert John

Robert John,

That's CFS2-speak that it doesn't like something you installed. It's usually a result of having too many aircraft, or aircraft & skins, in your aircraft folder. It can also happen with ships or files in your objects_dp folder, if you exceed something like 1,500 objects.

If you had problems after installing the panel, perhaps your install didn't like the panel. The good news is, you can backtrack and play detective. To fix this without doing a re-install, you need to replace your quick combat (.qcb) file with a backup, and then use the windows search feature to delete all of your .cdp files and filelist.dat files. The latter will regenerate when you use the program again.

As far as the aircraft are concerned, I assure you they are all used as player or AI aircraft. And yes, you will need to make sure they all have their weapons. I can help you hunt for them if required. The Battle for Europe campaign is the largest for CFS2 in Europe, so I understand your frustration.

As far as the 2012 version, I moved one of the missions to attack the city of Nantes, fixed the timing on some missions, found a couple of errors and improved the infrastructure. The submarine complex at St. Nazaire will be the last hurdle to complete the project.

I thought that as soon as it worked on a virgin install. Now I have to work out which ones to uninstall as the Battle of Europe was done on a fresh install.

I have removed

Bf109 G-6 Hartmann white 1
Bf109 G-6 Hartmann winter
Bf109 G-6 Hartmann yellow 1
Bf109 G-6 Hartmann yellow 1 '44

DAG Tank_TA152C now loads without error messages.

Many thanks

I am following the Battle for Europe instructions and I get a CTD, when I change the 7 to a 3 no CTD. I know it needs to be a 7 to work.

Rami’s ETO install guide
Now, this is very important…the texture files from your SCENEDB\WORLD\TEXTURE folder must be copied to the main, or “root” TEXTURE folder in the sim where you’ll be using this scenery. This TEXTURE folder is NOT located in either the SCENEDB or SCENERY folders; it is a separate folder, found between SOUND and UIRES folder.

Unlike Europe, DO NOT remove the textures from the SCENEDB\WORLD\TEXTURE folder just yet; doing so will cause unnecessary labor and headaches on your part. I will inform you on when to do this later in the document.

When do I remove the texture from the SCENEDB\WORLD\TEXTURE file.

l will keep your dday country file but it is not what I need at the moment.
I am building the Battle for Europe on a fresh install and following Ramis Battle for Europe installation guide and Rami's GSL ports - Europe readme to see what problems I run into and see if a step by step tutorial would be handy to produce.
I think I will need a lot more help on this instalation.

Robert,

Any changes you make with regard to the campaign's player nationality in the country.cfg must also be made to the related cmg, missions and even the aircraft (both AI and player) in the mission files. For example, if you change a nationality in the cfg from 7 to 3, you also have to make that change to the allegiance within any related campaign cmg file and its attendant mission files (allegiance=7 to allegiance=3). And every aircraft within the mission file that is affected by this change must also have its allegiance modified accordingly. And for additional good measure against CTD's, you should also open the dp's of the related player and AI aircraft with notepad and edit the allegiance in the [MISC] sections.

Which country.cfg file are you using?

If you are using Microsoft's expanded country.cfg file, there is already a number 7 country in the list which is the US Army. If you are just changing the American position's number 3 to a 7 in that .cfg file you will then have two number 7 countries and a crash.

Try copying the text provided in the Country.txt file that you get with the USAAF ETO UIRES download and paste it into the number 7 country position, rename it per Rami's instructions and see if that works. It should.

Rami
April 9th, 2012, 01:11
Robert John,

Yes, for all campaigns involving the US Army Air Corps, you need to use the expanded country.cfg file, found here at the Microsoft site: http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs2/articles_SDK_countryfile.aspx

Robert John: You might want to try:

1.) replacing weapons, objects, etc. that cannot be found in the mission files with similar weapons that exist in your library (e.g. substitute).

2.) comment out items that you have no weapons, objects, etc. by placing a semicolon (;) in column one of the appropriate line(s).

I can tell you that getting these missons/campaigns to run is a learning experience.

I can also suggest that you go to the Google website and insert the phrase 'CFS2 Mission Debugger", examine the results and proceed from there.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=3316

The AIRCRAFT folder has a readme file for the Mosquito with a hyperlink for the aircraft weapons.

"Oglive allowed me to include a .dp file he modified for the Mosquito that allows for drop tanks, rockets, and bombs. In order to make it work, you need to download and install the weapons from this pack."

Location: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=GA_dhMos.zip

After that, I'll concede the point that the weapons can be hard to find, hence my disclaimer about making sure everything is in working order before flying the campaign.

As far as the Fw-190 weapons are concerned, those are here: http://www.virtualwings.org/dora/weapons.htm

The D-bolt German weapons are found in the Junkers Ju-188 package, that hyperlink was included with the Messerschmitt Bf-110g-2: http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=km_ju188e.zip&fileId=32153

As far as the B-25 AI bombs: http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=B25_AI_Bombs.zip&fileId=32749

RAF gunner: http://www.mnwright.freeserve.co.uk/download/gunner.zip

B-25: http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=aftrsc_tndlyo.zip&fileId=36482 (This should have the drop tank)

Model oiltank: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=2668 (With the update to this, you won't have to worry about using this oil tank anymore)

Robert John,

Here, just skip over mission eight for the Luftwaffe and mission nine for the United States. I know this version works 100%, so long as you have everything you need. The mission to defend / attack St. Nazaire is awaiting new scenery.

Thankyou.
Model making is easier. If you need any models let me know.

Still trying to install Battle for Europe.
I am using the default mdlnames and descrip files. Near the end of the installation I added some more DP's and then I get the loading error messages. Trying to undo been a problem. Using a default DP file loads with no problem. Have to load the dp's for OBJECTS_DP again. I think I will have to put the bare minimum of DP's in the folder.

RJ,

The link is in the readme file:

You’ll need Groundcrew’s German destroyers

Sorry me again,
Can't find af_lci_1-350_rd. Found af_lci_1-350 in the af_amphib1 zip.
Getting there slowly.
Played some missions, they are fantsftic, scenery looks great.

RJ,

All of Pen32Win's amphibious landing craft are in this package, which is in the readme file...

You’ll need Pen32Win’s AF Landing craft (af_amphib1.zip)

Rami,
I read the read me no mention or model of af_lci_1-350_rd, there is a af_lci_1-350.
Do I make a copy of af_lci_1-350. and rename the parts af_lci_1-350_rd.

Had to do this with an aircraft mz-fw190-5 renamed to mz-fw-190-5 for it to work.

I renamed af_lci_1-350 to af_lci_1-350_rd. Mission loaded is it the same type of ship.

Also have Aircraft initialization failure.
BSK_MosquitoNFII
in a mission I do not know what is wrong at the moment.

RJ,

The Mosquito? Check the sound.cfg, it's alaised to the stock Lightning, but it is named incorrectly. If you fix that, it will work.

When I move his Mossie and his Spitfires to the new library, that is one thing I aim to correct.

As far as the naming issues, what missions were they?

NAMING ISSUES WITH THE BATTLE FOR EUROPE ALLIED SIDE

I Made new folders for the renamed crafts

wreck Havoc at Nantes rename mz-fw190-5 to mz-fw-190-5
Normandy invasion rename af_lci_1-350 to af_lci_1-350-rd.

I now have all Allied missions loading.
What a nightmare.

I did not load many of the extra skins.
A detailed install tutorial for adding all the addons would not go a miss.
If I can remember all the problems I had so far, I may write one.

Now for the Axis side.

Thanking you for helping keep the game alive.

RJ,

Aha! I will be dammed...the package does not have the "rd" (ramp down) versions of those landing craft. Thanks for the heads-up.

The Axis side was the original campaign. I used those to make the Allied missions. :wiggle:

By the way...all other campaigns for Europe are based off of Battle for Europe. Once you install "the beast," virtually every other campaign uses stuff from it. So other installs are MUCH easier in comparison.

Make the same corrections to the landing craft for mission 11 on the Axis side, then.
