Hello All,

The 8th Air Force project is going well so far. I am going to start with a Fighter campaign (Prefferably P-51 or if not P-47)

This is where I let you decide what fighter group you want to see a campaign made for! So Send me a link to anything you can find that fits the below description.

I want my missions to be historically accurate, but I need to be directed to records of any 8th Air Force fighter group.

I need information on each mission of an FG, whether it is an overall log, or a pilots diary. For example, a typical mission report should include info such as:

"P-51's took off at "___"a.m and escorted B-17s of the "___" Bomb group that were attacking the port at "____" they encountered a sqaudron of FW's over the French Coast" This will allow me to programme a pretty historic mission with the right triggers/events

You get the Idea!

Note: Please make sure that the fighter base is available for CFS2.

Thanks for info!

Jack,

Captain Kurt created an entire P-51 campaign (the 354th Fighter Group) that covers much of the area that you look to cover, but I'm sure you can come up with something. The P-47 and P-51 has been used by the 56th Fighter Group, the Battle of the Bulge, and the 486th Fighter Squadron, as well as Operation Frantic.

If you want to do something with the 8th Air Force, why not center it around the B-17? I have a CFS1 campaign for the 303rd bomber group that I can convert to CFS2 for you. I also have a P-38 campaign (the 20th Fighter Group) that's in my "round table" protect folder that I'd like to get to someday.

As far as information on USAAF bomber activities, it doesn't get much better than this: http://paul.rutgers.edu/~mcgrew/wwii/usaf/html/

If you get in contact with Captain Kurt I am sure he will also have good information/ideas/advice, maybe get your campaign to supplement CK's and then we can fly both, maybe as part of an overall mega-campaign.

This info is brilliant thank you,

I have just installed Captain Kurt's P-51 campaign, so now I think that I will make a campaign for the B-24 in the 8th Air Force (I don't think that this has ever been done)

I will get to work right away!

My mind is made up. I am going to make a 44th Bomb Group Campaign.

There is scenery for Shipdam and skins available. The 44th were only one of two groups that operated the B-24D.

You shall be seeing development soon!

Jack,

The B-24 campaign is a wonderful idea. The Alphasim is a good model, but there is a way to manually edit the missions (I can show you how) so that the player aircraft can be one of K. Malinowski's beautiful models. (You don't want to have them for the whole formation, your frame rates will be terrible)

There is also a way to alter the mission so that you are not the lead plane in the formation, and this allows other bombers to release their payloads.

Further, there are also AI bomb packages that can allow for multiple drops, increasing your destructive power.
