Good evening,

Because of the flatten issues at Tobruk, I asked Achim if he could kindly move the Tobruk - East and Tobruk - North airfields slightly from their old positions to eliminate the issues around the coastline and harbor. He moved the Eastern airfield a while back, and the North airfield has now been shifted. With that in mind I decided to spruce up the harbor area, and placed some other buildings around the city.

The GSL area for Achim's two fields has also been shifted. The JHS_North_Africa airfield package now includes the revised airfields, the revised airbase.dat for them, and the revised GSL file.

His airfield package for North Africa is here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3349

I took the opportunity to update the GSL port complex in my Mediterranean ports package, and included the two airfield gob files so that the two would not cancel each other out. If you have my Mediterranean GSL ports installed, you should have all the objects you need. This has also been included with my Mediterranean GSL ports package.

I absolutely love it. It's things like this that really bring the game to life, it may be an old Game engine, but the graphics still look good, even by today's standards. As long as machines keep getting more powerful, CFS2 will never get old. Great work! :salute:

By the way? Is this permanent scenery, or does it only appear in a mission?

If it is permanent, I am thinking of doing something similar (Placing trees and buildings as permanent scenery around certain bases that campaigns include), however that's a long way off.

I just wondered if it's easy (can you place in mission builder), or do you have to enter the LAT and LONG with scripts??

Thanks!

Jack

Jack,

It is permanent, destroyable scenery...hence the beauty of GSL. I have been hard at work since you left, not only working on campaigns, but also designing ports and other facilities that I use with them.

In Europe, my GSL ports package includes harbors at the following cities...

Belgium: Antwerp.

England: Bembridge, Bristol, Central London, Dover, Great Yarmouth, Gosport, Harwich, Portland, Portsmouth, Ramsgate, and Southampton.

France: Boulogne, Calais, Cherbourg, Dunkerque, Nantes, St. Malo.

Germany: Emden, Wilhelmshaven.
Holland: Amsterdam and Volendam.

Norway: Narvik.
Scotland: Glasgow.

(I also created ports at Brest, France and Bergen, Norway for DamBusters, but I have not included them yet)

I also did one for the Mediterranean...

Algeria: Bejaia, Bone.
Egypt: Alexandria.
Greece: Souda Bay.
Libya: Benghazi, Tobruk, Tripoli.
Sicily: Palermo.
Tunisia: Tunis.
Yugoslavia: Kralsuvica.

More recently, I partnered with Tobob, kdriver, and Dombral to do specialized scenery for the following locations, most of which are associated with the Fleet Air Arm campaign.

Bari, Italy: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4460

Bermuda: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4403

Dakar, Senegal: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4829

Jan Mayen, Norway: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4462

Taranto, Italy: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4795

Beirut, Lebanon: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4560

Tobob and Robert John also did La Rochelle, France: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4071

Don't forget about the great works of Jean Bomber; we have Pantelleria, Gibraltar, and Casablanca now too!

Jack,

And yes, it gets done through Mission Builder. There are various tools you can use to make GSL scenery, I have my own favorite tool.
