Check this thing out:

(I know it's not configured as an Iwo Jima Mustang, but I am extremely happy to see that a Mustang will finally be flying again in 506th FG/Iwo Jima markings (the first time, that I know of, since WWII). The aircraft will be debuting at the MAAM WWII Weekend air show in early June, where the 506th FG Association will be present, and it is also scheduled to be at the Thunder Over Michigan air show (which they have about 13 Mustangs confirmed so-far). The extremely talented Gary Velasco (as one of the pictures shows) did the artwork/paintwork on the aircraft. There were plans to do this way back since 2010, but it had been put on hold until just a few months ago.)

*This is the same aircraft that was restored back in 2000-2004 through a combined effort by Tri State Aviation, Odegaard Wings, and Midwest Aero Restorations. Since 2004 it had been painted in Canadian markings as "City of Winnipeg". In 2008 it was sold to the Friedkin family warbird collection, and was seen used by "The Horsemen" for a couple of years. In 2010 the aircraft was purchased by Tom Duffy (owner of the B-25 "Take-Off Time", P-47D "No Guts, No Glory", FG-1D "Marines Dream" (<- paint scheme might also soon be changing), and a Spitfite Mk.IX) and had decided to have the aircraft painted as "Kwitcherbitchin", an authentic Iwo Jima Mustang scheme.
