The Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero was the primary fighter of the Japanese Navy Air Service from 1940 to 1945, and when introduced was considered the most capable carrier-based fighter in the world. This download captures the essence of the agile light-weight fighter, which makes it perfect for challenges requiring speed and high maneuverability. This is an external-only aircraft model. No cockpit view is included.

I have the P-51, a gift from MS for beta testing, and I used it to claim the glider aerocache-haven't touched it since. Cockpitless aircraft hold no interest for me but probably does for the more gamer orientated. That's fine and I don't have a problem with MS providing such aircraft to that segment of the market. Flight is still in it's infancy and the there will be DLC that won't appeal to the gamers-they won't spend money on it, as I would not spend money on this offering.

I'll pay for appeals to me and pass on what doesn't, and won't spend time wondering or whining about it.

I think the Stearman, Icon, Maule & RV are more appropriate aircraft for the setting, plus they have cockpits.

There's a certain irony about releasing a Zero when you're restricted to flying around Hawaii. Maybe they should think about releasing a Val or a Kate :mixedsmi:

This can be critical for the future of FLIGHT....Could be some gamers liking RC type models to fly?....We all know HAWAII is home to Pearl Harbor!....May be they are marketing the "0"for the Japan Market... For Historical Considerations.
They tell us ALASKA is coming...And I think if Planes that are not ALASKAN PLANES like the "BEAVER" and some kind of a TWIN are not included???? Do Not Look Good!....An ICON, Stearman,or a RV6?? No way! The MAULE is OK!

The Gaming Part Of FLIGHT is getting the use of planes...The SIMMING part of FLIGHT is Flying them....We Shall Seehttp://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/icons/icon28.gif

Interesting choice of aircraft, and paint scheme. Is this Reisen an A6M2 (judging by the cowling), or an A6M5 (based on paint scheme)?

I would be interested in knowing how the Reisen flies and how close they came to modeling the real thing, should anyone decide to purchase it.

Vin -- Perhaps the Flight team is looking from a historical perspective, especially if the Reisen is actually part of the Alaska release (thinking Attu
and Kiska here).

I actually fired up CFS2 last night and flew a couple of Single Missions... CFS2 still holds up after all of these years, especially when you can crank it up all
the way!

Donīt get all surprised if later you can acquire a "cockpit upgrade" at extra cost....

Yes of Course Alan, only HISTORICAL...of which the Students of that event are world wide, and its never ending!...Certainly our interest in ALL war birds are a very broad interest here!...I like that plane, would be great in my hanger in FS9 or FSX...With a functioning Cockpit!....I did BITE on the FLIGHT P-51,..Yes Visually Nice..Honestly??? I could do with out it!....There are GREAT FUNCTIONING p-51s to Have! ..... Like You and all Pilots,Sim or otherwise....I WANNA FLY THE THING!!.......I still think ALASKA will make or break FLIGHT!...Will it remain a Great Game??? or an honest attempt as a Desk Top Flight Sim.....We will know soon!....CHEERS MY FRIEND!!

I won't be buying any of the planes without a cockpit. Like many I consider it a waste of money since I fly from the cockpit view 99% of the time.

Yep, same here. I wont buy anything having to do with MS Flight until they have at least the Western half of the Continental U. S. modeled and have a larger number of aircraft to choose from WITH cockpits. It would be nice to have an optional cockpit with VOR1, VOR2, and RMI gauges added so you can actually navigate the aircraft. Many people who restore older WWII aircraft add these gauges to theirs so why don't more developers offer that optional panel? On almost all of the payware warbirds that I have purchased I have modified the panels with these 3 gauges. Yeah, I know, I can use GPS or turn on the visual flight path on screen but that is bring, unrealistic, and not much of a challenge. It is much better to be able to use VOR gauges and an RMI so you can actually navigate.
