Hi,
I have an issue with all the UKMil Helicopters (including the recently released Sea King) - none of their engines will start.
Even if I start a flight with another helicopter and swap aircraft in mid air the UKMil bird just drops like a stone.
It must be me but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
I was using SP1 and I finally just upgraded to SP2 but there hasn't been any change.
It isn't an issue that I see with other helicopters or with the UKMil aircraft (like the Harrier).
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks
Gavin

Gavin,
Its probably in the cfg file, something to do with the engine type or something, this used to be a problem with early Alphasim helos which used a port over cfg, I think type 3 works ok with SP1 or is it type 1 ?, cant exact;y remember, but which ever type they have used will have an impact on the sound cfg, so changing the aircraft cfg engine type to stop engine fires and crashing may well screw up the sounds.
Easiest fix is to get SP2 which I believe solved this issue, or it might have been Acc ? as both seem to have revamped some parts of the helo structure in FSx, could well be that what ever was in Acc was also put in SP2 to help this issue.
Sorry, not sure which one of these two worked as I installed both at the same time and the problem went away.
Hope that helps a little ?.
Best
Michael

a few have had this problem, and we answered it on our forums. it seems sometimes, if you have had previous betas etc then the new files will not overwrite. esp in vista. try installing to a blank temp folder and copying all files manually to FSX

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
The blank temp folder is how I always install things and I didn't have any of the previous betas.
I get the same issue with your Scout, Wasp, Merlin and Sea King. I am sure that I am missing something basic but I can't figure out what.
Oh yeah - I am running on XP SP3
Thanks

UKMIL,
Did you ever finish and release that great USN repaint you were working on?
Thanks.

Not to turn this into a UKMIL support thread, but ...
I can't seem to log in to your website. It tells me I registered, but then can't find my email in the database.

Hi Michael,
I tried changing the engine type in the airfile from type 5 to type 3 (the older sims coding for helicopters) with no result (but thanks for the suggestion)
I have the same symptoms in SP1 and SP2
The rotors turn very slowly and seem to slow down as I increase the throttle.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks

Weirdness abounds this holiday season.
The UKMil Merlin appears to work great, beautiful aircraft that flies and hovers like a dream.
Still no idea why none of the other UKMil helicopters don't behave the same way.
Gavin
edit - Just checked the airfile and it's engine type is 3

I maligned UKMil - I am sorry.
It isn't all their helicopters
The Chinook and the Merlin start up with no problem, I start a flight and their engines are warmed up and I can take off immediately.
The Wasp and the Scout need to sit on the tarmac for a little while. If I sit in the cockpit and wait patiently (without any throttle) I can see that the Rotor (NR) / Turbine (N2) Speed gauge starts to climb (turbines spinning up?). It eventually climbs into the green and away we go. I guess I just wasn't patient enough before.
The Sea King, however, still refuses to co-operate. No matter how long I sit there the rotors never spin up. Out of curiousity I took the air file from the Merlin and dropped it in the Sea King folder, rotors spin up right away - now I can get the Sea King airborne at least.
Any one got any suggestions?
Thanks
Gavin

For the RPM to increase a bit faster, you may need to apply just 4-5% of throttle. It works like that on many copters.
