I've recently purchased FSX: Acceleration, and even more recently downloaded SP2 (I already have SP1).
When I tried to install SP2, I get an error message saying it can't install because Acceleration is there etc. So I dump Acceleration and install SP2, so far so good, but then I try to install Acceleration, and it says to get rid of SP2 first, so I go to the control panel (a little confused) and dump SP2. Now I install Acceleration, activate it, and when I install SP2, what do you know, it wants me to dump Acceleration!:banghead:
So, what the :censored: is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acceleration has sp2 included
no need to add it twice

Hmmm...
I'm booting the game up now, but I bought my copy in early December (which was the soonest I could get at it) and when I installed it earlier, the Object Placement Tool and the MP didn't work. I got SP2 because I thought that was the solution. So I guess now the query is how do I get that up and running?

OK, MP still doesn't work, and the SDK is also out of comission.

They need to be installed in the correct order.
1st uninstall everything & defrag your HD.
The order to put it in is thus,
1) FSX
2) FSX SDK (on disk 1)
3) Acceleration
4) SDK update (In Acceleration disk, I believe it is called sp1a)
5) Install the Acceleration SDK
Then you might need to manually change your dll.xml for the OPT to work.

I installed acceleration which failed half way through, now FSX will not run, I cannot repair, uninstall or re-install FSX. :banghead: Looks like the only option is to format my hard drive and start all over again :censored::censored::censored:

You could try a Windows " Systems Restore " to a previous date . I would think this would save you alot of work of trying a reformat . I am not an expert by any means so maybe someone else will jump in here and give you a better solution .
Good luck !

System restore only restores driver state in the OS registry. You need to try to uninstall everything first from Programs list under your Control Panel. If that doesn't work reboot the system and then try again.
Then reinstall the software. FSX rtm > FSX sp1 > FSXa. (note no need for sp2, as it is included in acceleration)
Or try deleting the folder for FSX and try going through the program list and try to uninstall again. This usually works for me if I have a stubborn program that won't uninstall.
This is easier than reformatting the whole drive. Reformat should only be necessary as a last resort if the OS gets corrupted.
"This method is not fully recommended. You do it at your own risk. I am taking no responsibility at this point if you follow below advice. It is intended for advanced users with the knowledge not to F!@#-up the rest of the OS and or computer!"
If that doesn't work, you can go through the registry and delete the FSX entries. Then go do a full reinstall. (cannot tell what to look for in registry as yours will be different from mine)
Good luck!
