Will a PCI Express v 2.0 video card fit on a motherboard that has PCI Express v 1.0 ? I have a Gateway P.C. [about 2 1/2 to 3 y.o.] that has that ol' " on-board video " but it does have a PCI Express ( I guess v. 1.0 ) slot

Thanks for any help ya'll could throw my way.

AS long as it is a PCI 16x yes it will work just fine, however you will not get the full benefit of using a board that uses 2.0. However neither will you suffer any loss of frames.

Thanks Ted,
I'll look into purchasing one of the 8800 GT's that you have recommended... and if I chose to get the PCI Express v. 2.0 video card, then I can take it with me to the X38 board and the new E8500 chip when it's major upgrade time 'round my house !
