Just a question: Does anybody knows about a scenery for Yellowknife/CA - CYZF? It can be freeware or payware. Thanks! :salute:

Oh my goodness:applause: Looky at all the neat AK stuff I didn't evenknow existed. This hobby is so much fun. You just keep on finding all kinds of reasons NOT to waste time with the telly -- especially during an election year.:cowboy:

Is there something wrong with this link? I can get to the opening page okay but no further. None of the download links or the links to other site sections will work for me. I tried to log on using a previously established set of parameters for fsnorthwest and the login simply failed. Helllp!!!

EDIT: I must have just caught them at the wrong time. Everything seems to be working now.

I just use Sidney Schwartz's CYZF 2010. It works in FSX and is better in detail and gets this Yellowknife blooded Canuk's seal of approval. There is also hope for a FSX native coming soon CYZF and no I cant spill any info NDA:stop:

So glad you raised this Flaviossa! My buddies and I are just beginning FSX Winter Op's in NWT and this scenery will come in very handy. :salute: Especially like the ground photoreal for Yellowknife.

Cheers :icon29:

Thanks from me too kilo delta!

My buddies and I are using a C-46 made by Tom Gibson and DC-4 made by Jens B. Kristensen along with Buffalo repaints from Avsim / Flightsim.com. There was a bit of tweaking with prop textures and alpha channels to get them FSX perfect, but they both look and fly superb plus the VC's are very nice indeed.

Get the aircraft - thanks to Cal Classics - here

For Buffalo repaints, just search Avsim or Flightsim.com for 'Buffalo Airways' and you'll get them easy. :salute:

The Jens Kristensen FS9 model that you can get in Flightsim.com in X form is working and includes also a Buffalo scheme. The file is dc4_v30x.zip. There is also a Buffalo repaint for the L-188_ELECTRA_X.ZIP which is not bad at all. I also think I've seen a Buffalo repaint for Carenado's Baron somewhere but can not recall where.

Edit: OK Dave now beat me to it. Yes, some work with prop texture is probably needed in the DC-4.

Yep..I've got the portovers, but would prefer (wouldn't we all? :icon_lol:) a native version.

Check here: http://buffaloairwaysvirtual.com/

You have to register but you do get access to some REALLY GOOD repaints e.g. for the DC-4/C-54 (fab vc textures), DC-3, L-188 and C-46. These are paints you won't find any other place, e.g. at avsim etc. Problem is that they kick you out quickly if you don't join in the pilot duty, required hours, pretend airline thing (not my thing . .).

Re scenery - this works OK for me in FSX and has a lot of Buffalo Joe's toys sitting around and flying . .

FS2004 Scenery--Yellowknife CYZF 2010. Founded as a gold town in 1936, Yellowknife is now the capital city of the Canadian Northwest Territories, and its airport, CYZF, is the busiest airport in northern Canada. Located only 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle, it is also subject to some of the harshest and most dangerous climate conditions in the world. This version features: all ramps and taxiways completely redone to be more accurate; all default buildings replaced; realistic Gmax models of the main terminal and tower, the First Air, CAF Squadron 440, and Buffalo Airways hangars; static aircraft for the First Air, CAF Squadron 440, Air Tindi and Buffalo Airways ramps; visual models of the arrestor cables on the main runway; fences, ramp lights, cargo, ground vehicles and all the other details that bring an airport to life; modular construction--the main buildings, ramp objects and static aircraft are in separate files and can be selectively deactivated to improve frame rates. By Sidney Schwartz and Peter Ham.

Jens had some of his latest models in FSX native format. I *think* the DC-4 was among them...

- Edit: No, not native.
