I finally jumped and bought the OV-10 on this news(and discounted cost) and am very glad I did. I had held off due to the fact I spent a lot of money in the holidays and had bought other FS related things the last month plus I was holding out for the US versions which having grown up seeing/hearing OV-10A's out of MCAS New River flying over each day, I am sort of a "purist" leaning towards early US variants(not at all knocking the excellent German version) It is a dream to fly and looks incredible and best of all, beside looking and flying great, the frame rates are excellent. Over the years, I have had varied experience with models and scenery delivering different performance levels but this model is one of those that is literally "drop-in" meaning as far as I am concerned, it needs zero tweaking. Being a tweaker, that is a shock to my system-lol. Anyhow, to Mathias and the Aerosoft team, I am looking forward to the new full model release soon. I can honestly say this is a model I endorse and encourage anyone who loves the OV-10 as I do to buy. Even if you're not a big OV-10 fan as I am, you'll still get hours and hours of enjoyment and yes, a challenge out of this model.

I just might go ahead and pick this up, any chance of VAL-4 in the Marine Green paint since it won't be in the update?

And one more thing, I don't know who that DDUce guy is over there but he knows not of what he speaks regarding the Navy's use of the Bronc. It's obvious that he never bothered to read VAL-4's history and combat record. Along with his not so subtle insult to Piglet he strikes me more of a "rivet counter" than a FS enthusiast.

I thought DDeuces was a former OV-10 pilot.

Strike.....I am planning on doing a bunch of paints once the kit is out. I want to recreat the schemes Tim did along with a bunch of USMC and USAF stuff. I'm also thinking about redoing my VS-41 OV-10...but I'm trying to nail down the top color...some say black but I'm not sure if thats correct or not.....I seem to remember finding an image of it and it appeared to be a very dark blue.

To be quite frank..there are a couple of guys over at the aerosoft forum who are IMHO complete a@@holes. For example here is a quote from one of them "Flightsim and Avsim have no protection, all well most of the repaints their for Tim Conrads are mine, How many have my name on them. NONE, They do not have a category here at aerosoft for the BroncoX, till they do, I cannot upload them, unless I upload them to F16, etc..etc.. [WHY NOT OK...WILL UL TO F16 CATEGORY] Just tried to ul to F16 repaint category, would not let me... so till they open a category for Bronco X. we are SOL. only couple more days till update anyway, then your hands will be busy." I just did a quick check over at flightsim.com and I didn't see one paint with his name on it. And I know for a fact that I did all of my repaints for Tim's OV-10 on my own. There are a few people over there that have forgotten that this a game.

Yes John I agree.....one gent is asking for a paint partner now.......says all paints will be the property of AEROSOFT, that he and his new partner will be doing............whats that all about? Oh well...I don't need a partner but if I did....I'd be right here at SOH looking for one.

I saw that post as well. Any repaints I do will be published here and flightsim and not at aerosoft.

I'm still holding out hope that you will do the BLM paint I requested over there, since you do GOOD work. The one that was done was ghastly. I didnt have the heart to tell the guy. Nice of him to answer my request, but it was just horrid.

I may do that BLM scheme....but will follow a couple military paints.

the paints being done by DD are ok at best. It seems he has a bone to pick with Tim so he is trashing his OV-10. Evidently he offered to help Tim with the guages and Tim declined in a manor I don't think he would have. Anyway.....I now have better insight into this DD guy as it seems he was booted from SOH.

So that said...who ever teamed up with him........I feel bad for them.

Just a few comments here. Pardon my ignorance but the heck is a "BLM" paint? Also, it would appear that DDeuce and Piglet have a rather checkered past (at least according to DD), hence his original post concering the kibbles and dog treats. He felt compelled to have the last word after I posted an appreciation for both the Aerosoft version and Tim's continued contributions to the community. He is apparently one who thrives on self gratification and so I left it as is. Not worth giving him a platform nor worth raising my blood pressure over.:salute:

No....I believe its a fireffighting company.......not sure if they are still in musiness or not. frankly...I can do without the firefighting aircraft....but I know some will find enjoyment out of it so thats cool. I'm looking forward to getting some USMC and USAF paint on mine.

Haha, yeah he seems to wear beer goggles when he paints. Like I say, I didn't have the heart to say "dang that sucks" since he made a point to whip it up for me, but it looked like an aircraft from FS98.

BLM is a government entity (Bureau of Land Management). They fall under the Department of the Interior. They handle many various aspects of rural government land. In addition to firefighting duties on land they control (vast areas of the country, particularly large areas in the desert southwest) they ensure the land is used properly, even controlling landfill and environmental projects...

The Broncos were used strictly for firefighting though.

I want to add that I concur with Falcon409 and others about the Bronco's(both Piglet's and the new Aerosoft). Both models and the work that went into them I appreciate greatly. I've been flying Piglet's OV-10's going back to FS8/FS9 and in each iteration since including FSX I've enjoyed the improvements. Now having the Aerosoft version, to me it is the next evolution of quality of an FS OV-10 model and I am absolutely pleased having bought it. We are very fortunate to have talent that have produced both payware and freeware versions of the OV-10 as well as many other excellent models.

Skyhawk if you want I will ask my buds that are still at HSC-85 if they can find out what color the VS Black Pony was as well as snoop around myself. It's the least I can do if you are going to do as many paint jobs as you plan.

As for that DD pendejo, I read his replies in that thread and I can't imagine Piglet doing that. I figure that he was AF and had a few bad encounters with Navy folks. His take on the procurement of the OV-10 was wrong on all accounts. Not only that he's rude too, I can see why he was shown the door here and I can see why I will not join Aerosofts forum community as they seem to tolerate that behavior. The OV-10 was initiated by the Marines and Navy on behalf of the Army for a light COIN aircraft with transport capability. The Army bowed out due to the limitations imposed by the AF and DoD in the late 40's, early 50's, coupled with the procurement of the OV-1. The Bronc was more or less saved by the Viet Nam war. The Marines used it for light attack and FAC and I believe helo escort ( I could be wrong here, not like it would be a first) with the Navy adding VAL-4 to augment HA(L)-3 in support of Brown Water Navy operations in the Mekong Delta and Rung Sat Special Zone. The only reason the AF picked up the Pony was as a replacement for the 0-2's and discovered that they could drop bombs and kill things too. No offense to the AF Vets here at SOF, but you know how rivalries are.

It's too bad that they did not model the OV-10D NOGS or NOS, it would have been neat to have that 20mm Vulcan turret on the center line.
