going to wait and see the reviews and screenshots. In this day of accuracy, modeling, and economy...I need to be very fusy with what I buy. Having been a part of RAZBAM for a short time I hope it does well for them.

There's a misfire with the installer pathway. The installer wants to create a "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" folder when I browse it to my "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" folder.

After quite a few exchanges with the excellent support to overcome the order/Paypal issues (thank you Ron and Larry!) I got a download link. Unfortunately the first two attempts resulted in broken downloads. I will keep the third one for tomorrow, perhaps the traffic will be less. What if the third one is not successful either?

I've been waiting a lot for this bird and can't wait to try it out.

A very pretty model, and a HUGE improvement from the FS9 model, lol. So far so good, although I don't see any engine smoke, from the C or the B model. I'm pretty sure she smoked.

My first attempt was a broken download. My second attempt was good, although I was sweating it. The DL speed was slowerr than molasses.

Larry was kind enough to reset my downloads but I just wasted one more. I'll save the rest for tomorrow, hoping for the best.

The altimeter isn't calibrated to the VSI. For instance, if you put it into a 200 fpm climb as indicated by the VSI, the altimeter spins up at around 100 feet per second.

I believe there's something else going on with the altimeter, as well. It's just too quick to spin up and down. Holding your altitude with that kind of response from the altimeter, makes holding your altitude quite challenging, and not very realistic.

Is anybody running this on a less than cutting edge system, I had and loved the FS9 version, but the Razbam A-7 does not like running too smoothly for me, so I wonder if this is similar in it's requirements?

Calypsos, the T-2 runs a lot smoother compared to the Corsair series!

Cheers,

Regarding the A-7 and especially the 2-seater, don't forget that it they're HD models requiring enough horsepower, which is btw a common requirement of almost all high quality FSX add-ons.
With my setup (I7 920 stock speed- GTX 260 - 6GB 1333 mHZ) I was initialy having a "stop and go" TO run with the A-7, however all have changed by using the great Bojote's cfg tool. It runs more than smoothly for me now.
Also, when I briefly switched to DX 10 preview mode, FSX was running 2-3 times smoother, but the runways' flicker problems convinced me to go back to the normal DX9, which is now OK using the Bojote's tool

Hope that I was useful

Calypsos, another plus point of the T-2 compared to the A-7, is simply the fact that the T-2 has less intrumentation therefor a lot smoother on the framerates! :salute:

I'll check the coding of both the altimeter and the VSI and fix the culprit. If warranted we will reissue the installer.

Watch your engine gauges. The T-2 engines are not as temperamental as the A-7 but they do have limitations: both overspeed and overtemperature.

You can lose the engine by overspeeding it before it overheats.

Abuse the engine, lose it. RAZBAM's motto on aircraft simulations. I'm looking for a way to code abusing the airframe and destroying the aircraft in flight.

I ended up browsing to a dummy folder and let the installer create the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" folder and install the components. Then I just cut and pasted the components to their appropriate folders in the flightsim.

Well, that is easy enough. Done it hundreds of times. But what about the uninstaller.exe file?

You can search for the original Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder by clicking on the browse button
Or you can go to the end of the string and backspace the duplicate entry until you are left only with the real one
I'll check the installer script.

Absolutely Awesome plane. Light on the computer but high quality visuals inside and out, stable and agile at the same time. Realistic Instrument panel and weapon's loadings.

A different kind of a mlitary plane and a kind of plane missing from all recent high quality releases. In other words a must have, with its affordable price and its support by the RAZBAM Team, which cares for its friends/customers, even when on personal time.

Regarding the installer's path dual MICROSOFT SIMULATOR X entry. I've seen it in many releases so far. The easiest thing to do : Delete the un-needed MICROSOFT SIMULATOR X (2nd entry) during installation, or manually copy from there to the relevant FSX folders. For me, just deleting the 2nd entry worked fine and the aircraft installed nicely.

Finally downloaded a complete file this morning from work. Will have to wait until I go back to try this one.

It's been a less than smooth purchasing procedure but finally worked out thanks to the great support. Thanks guys!

I'm seriously thinking of working on the Kalamata Hellenic Air Force base to have a suitable home for this baby and my Iris T-6 Texan II.

I sure would love to have the T-2. But have found it impossible to buy it at the RAZBAM site. I get through entire purchase procedures using PAYPAL but nothing happens when I click the pay button. I drop out of RAZBAM and cannot login again...does not recognize my password. I have emailed them, but no response yet. Is this going to get to SimMarket anytime soon?

Eventually, RAZBAM's staff will help you out any time now, just contact them. They've cut their lunch time to help me out yesterday !! (I didn't know they were having lunch though).

I think for such a reasonable price for this fine plane we have to support these guys first.

Honest mistake. Ron copied the URL with his session cookie that now is translating it as a customer account.

Were you able to get the T-2 with your new account? I had to create a new account, but still could not buy it.

Actually I only had to get a new password (not new account), but have still not been able to buy the Buckeye.

Same here with the altimeter...

Wow, I seem to be filling up this thread. After clearing up all the new snow outside, I am trying to operate my new T-2. I seem to be having a few problems. I've read the manual through two times but can't get a few things to operate.

Launch bar: cannot get it to appear (ctrl+l according to the manual)

The radio preset and the Weapon Control Station panels display but do not function.

I have no rear cockpit, only vc is front pit.

Anyone else having these troubles ?

I am starting to like this plane a lot. I have to ask my instructor on tips as he surely flew them before flying A-7s for the HAF.

Meanwhile I had a great time with it tonight. I enjoyed carrier ops:

John, must be a typo in the manual (I'll check that and contact Ron), but the launch bridle is activated not by CTRL+I but by using SHIFT+I.
About the radio, haven't checked that out (sorry, I was just the painter......) but will do so eventually.
With the control CTRL + Enter you can move yourself into the rear cockpit, and adjusting your height with SHIFT + Enter.

Manual typo, you have to use FSX default keystrokes, that is CTRL+U for "deploying" the cat bar and CTRL+I to "attach" the cat bar
As for the 2nd cockpit, SNAFU from me, the coordinates are in the aircraft cfg, look for this:

[Views]
eyepoint = 10.90,0.00,3.38
//eyepoint=5.41,0.00,4.16

Just erase the "//" in the bottom info and add them to the top, that will put you in the back seat.

All will be fixed in the now mandatory patch

Thanks for the help. Works when I do it right. I had a massive brain fart on the Weapon Control Panel....it is printed on the panel that it only works with engines off and BRAKES set. I guess I need some more ground training.

Dimus
February 1st, 2012, 23:14
I was able to use the weapons control station as you can see from the pictures above. You have to have the engines shut down and parking brakes applied, just like in the A-7. Load her up and away you go. As for the back seat, I did not have it either. I'll check the cfg file as Prowler suggests.

One more thing on the weapons. When guns are selected the fire button (after mapping it as suggested in the manual) operates just once, like a bomb or rocket launch so I guess that to fire a long burst you have to fire repeatedly. Also there is no associated effect on the guns firing except for the round hits on the ground or water.

First and foremost congratulations and thanks to RAZBAM. I, like several other customers, have encountered problems downloading my purchase but have been very impressed by RAZBAM's prompt and pragmatic approach to resolving the matter. :applause:

One thing I would suggest to user's who are experiencing poor frame-rates, especially in external view, is to consider downgrading your external aircraft textures using a utility such as DXTBmp. My system was running like a dog in external view. I noticed that the aircraft's external textures are all saved in the highest quality 32bit (DDS 888-8) format. I converted one of the texture variations to DDS DXT5 format which resulted in vastly improved external frame-rates with no appreciable loss in quality.

This is not a criticism of RAZBAM as they have provided the highest quality textures possible. However, it might be useful (perhaps in a future update) to include DXT5 and 888-8 textures and to provide the user the option of choosing which textures to install. This would save time and effort particularly for those users who are not confident enough, or inclined, to convert the textures themselves.

Regards, Taff

OK, yeah I see the fixes in the altimeter and ailerons. Much better.

When I browse to where my Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder is and hit go, the next window in the installer tells me that Microsoft Flight Simulator X does not exist, and asks if I want it to create the folder. I am not sure about the electrical systems (seems to be working OK for me). Regarding the gun, if you have the weapons master switch on and select guns in the dial, and have also mapped a key for fire button according to the manual, the guns will fire, however, the only indication would be the hits on the surface of the ground or water. Regarding the new update, the ailerons now seem to move the wrong way in both internal and external views. Anyone else sees that?

I had the same, very strange, a part the engine start everything work with battery off when is supposed there is no electrical power.

Ron and team, thanks for the reset of the Buckeye count, downloaded quickly and completely. Now, if you could just reset my Kestrel count back to even one so I can download on the new server.

Buckeye looks and works great too, FYI.

I've just tried to buy the Buckeye, I created an account, but when I go to checkout, it takes me back to the account login page over and over again! Anyone else had that problem?

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Larry,I've now managed to buy the Buckeye, but I now have another problem, so far I've downloaded two of my available downloads, and they have both been corrupt! How big should the file be? The first one was 157Mb and the second 206Mb, but I noticed somewhere on this the thread someone mentioned circa 306Mb.<o:p></o:p>
As I only have one download left, I’m unsure what to do next!<o:p></o:p>

Hello all, I was able to download the newest version without any issues this morning but I am having a problem when I try to fly it.

My issue is the T-2 will randomly lock up my sim. I had the same problem with the original release of the FSX T-2 and initially thought it had to do with the weapons installer, however, it will lock up even with out using the weapons installer window. My framerates while flying the T-2 are normal for my setup and it runs well except for the locking up issue. When it does lock up I get an message stating that my nvidia driver has stopped (nv4_dll) or something of that nature.

I do not have this issue with any other aircraft. VRS Superbug, IRIS aircraft, Captainsim C-130 all run fine without any problems, so I am pretty confident that it is only with the Razbam T-2. When I do get some flying time, the T-2 has been very enjoyable and would like to solve this problem.

Thanks,
Bill

The Buckeye certainly is a nice little jet, but I seem to have one problem, I can't get the launch bar to lower, for carrier take off's, any ideas anyone?

Ian.

So I did a little more testing to see if I can narrow down the cause of the T-2 locking up FSX.

I ran FSX, picked a saved flight that I have with the C-172. I changed to the T-2 and did not use the weapons manager to adjust anything. I flew for 30 minutes without a problem. I then landed, turned off the engines and set the parking brake. I used the weapons window and added the instructor. Within seconds after closing the weapons manager my sim froze.

Reboot.

I then removed the t2owm.dll from the addon modules folder. I removed the lines from the dll.xml. I run FSX and select the T-2. I open up the default fuel and payload settings in FSX and added the weight for the instructor in the rear seat and as soon I as close that to start flying, FSX locks up.

Sooo, has anyone been able to add the instructor without having FSX lock up on them after awhile?

I am just trying to narrow down what it could be.

Thanks

Well after further testing. I am pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the weapons manager or the instructor in the rear seat. I am starting to wonder if it might be the size of the textures that is causing my issues.

For my latest test, I loaded up a freeflight with the T-2. I didn't use the weapons manager or add the instructor. I just let it sit on the ramp and was switching views when it locked up.

Prowler,
do you have any idea how to use the launch bar?

Ian.

Prowler1111
February 9th, 2012, 08:32
it´s in the manual, use FSX acceleration default keys Ctrl+u to deploy and Ctrl+i to attach, remember, FSX "sees it" as a launch bar even as the T-2 used another system, so before you get into the cat shuttle deploy the cat bar(it´s invisible) and as soon as you are in top of the shuttle attach it

Can you check the aileron movement on the latest version? I believe they move the wrong way both from inside and outside views?

I'll check that Dimus. As I'm working on some additional repaints (...and how do you like the HAF repaint?) will check that in the mean time.

Cheers,
Hank

You're right Prowler. I reinstalled it and it works OK now. Apparently I still had the original installed when I checked. Thanks for the update!

I love the HAF paint Hank! It was the main reason why I bought this plane and your A-7H and TA-7H. Very well done all!

I've been keeping up with the contents of this thread. I hope you RAZBAM people take a couple days off and sleep sometime soon. Great job on the plane, and the support. Here's a kodak, headed north, out of Edwards AFB. I think China Lake NAS is out here some place...
