Actually both. With mixed results in the operational usage.

My favorite part is about halfway down when one Japanese pilot remarked after a friendly fire incident that no matter who was flying
the Curtis products they continued to shoot down Japanese planes.

Interest article , thanks for posting that , amazing all sides shot at each other but you have to admit the P-40 had an unmistakable plan form even if he was wearing a meatball you shoot first , best way to compare is a buzz attack at today,s airshows , you can tell it a Kittyhawk/Warhawk charging down at you but cannot see the the marking so guess understandable in ID , but to shoot down your own bombers ... think that Japanese chap needed a lesson in aircraft recon :salute:
