Well, James at TechCorp has substantiated the speed of the new ATI 3870 x2s with two seperate cores on the board are definitely faster than the fastest current GTX, however it is not faster than the soon to be released 9800 series by Nvidia. However, his take on it is that the graphics represented by ATI 3870 and 3870 x2 are far superior to the graphics rendered by current and soon to be released Nvidia 9800 video cards. I just installed the Visontek on wh61's Dell 720 and the graphics are breathtaking to say the least, but we do have a sound problem that I have not fixed yet with the ATI sound setup and his X-Fi Platinum sound card in FSX only.

If I had $449.00 today I would buy the new ATI x2 because of price/performance and better drivers with the ATI Catalyst, but I don't think you could lose going either Nvidia or ATI, as they have both stepped up to the plate, and let's face it, competition means we win in the end!:ernae:

A REVISION: IMPORTANT
James informs me that at resolutions above 1680 by 1050 with 4xAA and 8X ANI the stock 8800 GTX, 8800GT SSC, and 8800GTX SSC still runs circles around the new ATI X2. However the clarity and color depth still go to ATI. What it comes down to is higher FPS with the 8800GTX, 8800 GTS SSC, and 8800GT SSC with less clarity and color depth. This is a tough trade off in FSX where higher FPS seems priceless. We are not allowed to post our results to the public, as we are a reporting test agency for mfgs only, but we do find outside resources that confirm our findings.
